NOTICE: There's a gap between this chapter and the last one because their was supposed to be a few chapters in between. One for the tension rising between these two. Then something similar to 'A Dangerous Call' here but with Ling Lan being so unfocused and unsure of what to do that she didn't notice a presence by the door. Guess who? After, she left the apartment. Then another chapter with leopard basically going mentally insane and becoming emotionally unstable because of what he heard(that being the truth about her identity/ Momma Lan calling Ling Lan her real name).

....

'Sigh'

Ling Lan turned her head up to the sky. The moon was at its peak and stars glittered everywhere in the dark expanse. They had probably avoided each other for far too long.

Steeling herself for the interaction to come Ling Lan brought herself to the door of their shared living space. A simple hard to make twist and she was in. But the first thing she noticed immediately was how quiet it was. There wasn't anything out of place, everything was perfectly fine. But the atmosphere felt weird. It was different from the usual air they had when they were alone. Ling Lan didn't get any hints of danger, but if that wasn't it then why did everything seem so... off-putting?

Her attention was immediately drawn to Li Lanfeng's presence. Navigating her way to the bedroom, she entered and the door immediately slammed shut behind her, but it was not enough for her to pay attention to such a minute thing when there was a problem in front of her. She looked forward at the sight of Li Lanfeng laying down on the bed with his arm covering his eyes.

His mask was off.

H just laid there, but as she looked closer she could see his fist clenching and unclenching.

Then she realized that most of the awkwardness was coming from him.

"Nalan Zhan?" She called out to him, only to receive silence in the end. The tension in the room grew. It wasn't to her liking at all. Once again, her eyes narrowed as she called to him, her tone much more firm than before.

"Nalan Zhan!"

Li Lanfeng heard when Ling Lan had entered the room. But he didn't know what to do. He was still trying to wrap his head around this mess. He felt stuffy, and couldn't tell if it was a good or bad feeling. On one hand, he was ecstatic, his rabbit was a girl! And she liked him! But on the other hand, he was using a fake persona. Did that mean she was in love with him or his disguise? But she saw his face. She knows his face. What part of him did she fall for here that wasn't with him in the past? Was she just ignoring it until now? Or was none of it true and was it all just his wish for Ling Lan and Huang Xixia to be the same person? So many questions were dying to jump out of his throat, but they couldn't escape his lips.

He heard Ling Lan call out his fake alias one more time, even firmer than the first, and everything in his mind broke.

It all came crashing down!

He abruptly sat up and stared right at her. A thousand questions seemed to be running through he'd head. His gaze was off. It was as if he was trying to devour her whole with his gaze. Ling Lan couldn't fathom what was racing through his mind. The look he gave her contained too much for her to bear. Her heart was pounding because of the intensity, feeling as if it would jump out of her chest and hide itself. Despite this she continued to keep a straight face as she looked at him.

It came back. The room was stuffy, suffocating even, and it only got worse. Her heart was heavy with it, and she was ready for it to end.

Her voice was just about to rise for a third time when she heard quick steps approaching her, too quick for her liking. Nevertheless, she was only left with the option of facing what lay ahead of her.
