Miss you CA/OK

California looked at Oklahoma. He was doing that thing again. He needed to stop that . He needed to stop missing him. Though he couldn't.

Oklahoma and California hadn't been together in a while. California couldn't even remember how long ago it was. Maybe a couple decades?

It didn't matter to the state. He missed Oklahoma.

He hadn't talked to Oklahoma outside of work meetings, and even than he tried to keep their interactions to a minimum.

Though he couldn't help but think of those times when the two were close.

Oklahoma must've caught him staring cause he gave him a weird look.

Than the meeting ended.

California already had plans to get high so the unexpected reminder of a former lover wasn't helping.

He wanted closure. He wanted to be able to apologize to Oklahoma for how he acted. Even though he knew they'd never get back together a small part of him wondered if they could.

When the two dated California was still a swing state. He would only really become a blue state somewhere in the 90's. They first met during the dust bowl area and hit it off great. They didn't have a lot in common but they had a love for each other and that's all that really mattered.

Now they were more similar if anything. They smoked weed, enjoyed similar genres of movies, played some of the same games.

As he took another puff of smoke he couldn't help but notice his phones light.

He knew he had Oklahomas number in there. States were required to have each others numbers.

He could call.

He could not.

The sound of the phone dialing made California anxious.

"Hey?"

"I'm sorry Okie."

Oklahoma hung up.

He didn't want to hear from California today. Not tomorrow. Not ever.

California slumped himself up against the wall. He did it again. Worse part was he couldn't talk to anyone about it.

No one actually knew the two used to go out, and Oklahoma begged California to keep it that way.

So he sat in his sorrow.
