The sun had dipped below the horizon, casting a warm, golden hue across the living room of the teams shared hotel in Spain. Two nights after the match, laughter and conversations filled the airs as Ada and the others had gathered for an evening of relaxation. Tonight, they decided to finally crown something else, the best chess player in the team called Liverpool Fc. As known, both Trent and Ada are very competitive human beings, and do not like to lose, at all.
The chessboard was set up on a small coffee table in the hall, pieces on their place, arranged and ready for the battle. Trent and Ada sat across from each tioher, the intensity of their connection evident in their eyes. The room fell into silence as their friends settled around them, eager to see one lose.
Ada had always been great at this game, so great, that she is till this day, unbeaten.
Trent, on the other hand, had always been known for his cheeky moves, making him unpredictable.
"You ready for this?" Trent asked with a playful smile, trying to win the mental game.
"Always." Ada replied, moving her pawn to e5.
As the game progressed, the more impatient grew the audience.
With a decisive move, Ada positioned her rook, delivering a check forced Trents king into the corner . She followed up with her queen,
"Checkmate."She announced softly, her voice filled with proudness.
"This can't be..." Trent answered hoping to find a mistake in her flawless game.
Andy jumps up turning to Curtis, "give me my money baby!" , Curtis shrugs reaching into his pocket and giving hints the promised 100 pounds.
Later that night, as the hotel quieted down and their friends retired to their rooms, Ada and Trent found themselves alone on the terrace, the night sky above them. The cool breeze carried the scent of the sea and the distant sound of waves provided a soothing backdrop.
"That was a great game." Trent said, wrapping his arm around Adas shoulders.
"It was," she agreed resting her head on his chest.
"You always surprise me, somehow it was expected though," he murmured, kissing the top of her head, "on and off the board."
Ada smiled, feeling a deep sense of contentment. The champions league victory had been a dream come true, but moments like this, with the people she cares about, made her journey even more meaningful.
