While Red Velvet is busy.. (Before Pastry's disappearance.)
--
Pastry PovPastry sat on the bed, as instructed. She didn't dare upset Red Velvet, after all he cares for her more than any cookie ever did... and most importantly he is in a higher position than her. It is only logical she'd be loyal to his words. If she'd wander out of the room she'd probably get lost.
But maybe if she wouldn't stray too far? Maybe she'd find him. Pastry didn't want to stay in a room by herself. She's had enough of feeling lonely. She has felt alone most of her time on earthbread. Even if there were tons of cookies right by her, the feeling was persistent. A whole masquerade of cookies.. and yet they were no match for a single Red Velvet. No cookie has ever made her feel this way. Pastry tried to deny it, but the fact was solid like hardened dough. There was something about him. When he walked into the room all of the thoughts she had earlier dispersed. As if he brought something freshly baked into the room with him that made her head fill up with warmer thoughts. It felt like her dough softened when Red Velvet entered the room. Even though he is cold most of the time, he emits a fire that lights up the atmosphere for her.
The warmth doesn't last forever, though. The moment he left she had no reason left to smile. There was no longer comfortable aroma in the air. Pastry wishes he'd stay by her and not wander off. Red Velvet going was understandable, though. She wasn't here to spend time with him but to help him work. For now she's just resting. (Supposedly they find me incompetent to do work and are already planning to..) Just when she thought she was on the right tracks.
To distract herself, Pastry looked around the room yet another time. Now she could identify the objects around her. A picture on the wall of Red Velvet and Chiffon got her attention. It was in a pretty frame that looked like dark chocolate to her. But the prettiest thing was how both of them looked so happy. To think that he had a soft spot for that little pup.. it made her heart ache. Pastry looked at her hands as a memory returned to the front line of her mind. The past can't and won't leave her alone. Nothing changed in her consistency, she was baked to follow the Order. To cleanse the world of evil was her life mission. That was her life's purpose. Yet.. she has driven herself off the tracks made for her.
The lone cookie looked up at the picture again and focused her sight on Red Velvet. Does he hold a grudge for what happened? Has he truly forgiven her only sin? Pastry knew that if she was him, she wouldn't. What is so trustworthy about her anyway? The ability to follow instructions doesn't excuse the cruel things she did. Eventually she figured sitting here all by herself was unbearable so she got up. If helping was a possibility, even in the slightest, it was in every way worth it. (Here atleast there's no odd and strict rules..) She thought to herself as her eyes searched the room again. Finally, she felt free. The feeling of being out of the cage awakened others she had buried deep within. She couldn't identify the feelings, but she was aware of their presence. Pastry found herself looking at the picture once more. (I'm sure Red Velvet would appreciate me helping him take care of the cakehounds.) She quietly sneaked out of the room and attempted to recognise the hallway ahead. It turned out to be more difficult than she thought. Pastry was left with no other choice than to pick one way or the other.
Perhaps she should go down the hallway that's right before her very eyes. If that doesn't work she can just turn back around. And that's what she proceeded to do. She had a feeling she shouldn't be doing this and that was the truth. She shouldn't have gotten out of the room, but it was too late now. Without looking back, Pastry took a casual stroll through the halls. If she doesn't find the room she's after, atleast she can memorise the route. She'd gain something either way, aslong as she doesn't lose knowledge of where she is.
Pastry stopped when she spotted the familiar door. The unexpected result of her little trip. Here were the cakehounds. She got excited at the idea of opening the door and rushing in. Entering a room full of fluffy cakedogs.. and the bittersweet Red Velvet. With her hand ready gripping the handle she slowly relaxed it. (How would Red Velvet react if she burst through this door?) She didn't get too far with the thought of him being pleasantly surprised. His reaction would be the absolute opposite. But that didn't stop her from opening the door. Pastry decided to ignore all her doubt and walked inside closing the door as silent as possible.
