It hurt knowing that at any time i could lose him, we haven't even decided if we wanted kids let alone having to be fated to have children just for him to die before he can even watch them grow up. And he just accepted that fate. I decided that I wasn't just going to stand by and do nothing what was the point of having my curse broken if he was forced to live with his. "Hey dad?" i called to him from the stairs. "Yea kiddo?" He called back peeking from the door of his room. "Are their anymore practitioners that you know of?" He cocked his eyebrow at me. "What for?" He said coming out of his room completely. "Well, im getting restless the goddes wont tell me anything or if she's getting anywhere. And im tired of sitting doing nothing. I figured maybe if i can get my hands on a book that i can maybe be of some help" He looked at me curiously. "Ill see if i can find someone kiddo." He smiled and went back into his room. I refuse to be helpless. If my grandmother could do it so could i. And hopefully with a little more experience the moon goddess may be able to change that fate. If the first goddess was able to force this fate on him she should be able to undo it. It took a few days for anyone to reach out to my dad but finally and older woman that was related to someone in my great grandfather's family reached out to him, She never questioned anything once my dad told her who needed the help she delivered the books herself. I guess news of my disappearance was well known as well as my return. She welcomed me back and gave me a lovely smile. She handed me two large book she said they had been in the family for a few years, and she wasn't practicing so she had no use for them. She did tell me they were very powerful and i had to be careful and gave me one rule to always keep in my mind. "Everything comes with a price. And that price will be matched with whatever you are asking" I thanked her and she left shortly after. I waited until later that night after everyone was asleep. I found a quiet place in the kitchen and started reading. There were a few texts that were hard to understand but i deciphered a few pages quickly. Most of them were about healing and elemental magic. I froze at one page, it was about resurrection. But something in the pit of my stomach told me whatever kind of magic was needed wouldn't be a price id want to pay. My eyes began to get itchy and heavy, feeling my exhaustion i decided to call it a night. I hid the books away in my clothes and went to bed. Feeling a bit more hopeful than before. "Good morning sleepy head." Shalom said planting soft kisses on my neck. I smiled in response and kissed him back. He shuffled on top of me gently pressing his weight against my body. "Where did you go last night? I didnt feel you come to bed." He said running a finger along my jaw. "I was a little restless so i went for a run" I replied. "Needed to exert some energy?" He said with a devious smirk on his face. "You couldve woken me up he said pressing his now obvious erection into me. "Ill keep that in mind next time" I said. He let his lips crash into mine making me breathless. I could feel my skin getting hotter. I felt like i wanted to rip his clothes off. "Shit" Alex almost shouted in my head. Her voice sounded distorted as my skin started to heat even more. without thinking i began grinding my hips against his i couldnt control this feeling washing over me. I looked at shalom his eyes now a bright vibrant blue. Harlou present, and i could hear the low grumble within his chest. "Your in heat little kitten" He smirked. He was looking at me like i was a piece of meat. And every inch of me was begging him to eat me alive. "What?" i muttered unable to control my breathing now. I felt like i was panting and i could hear my heartbeat in my chest. "Shalom!" i could hear my father call from downstairs sounding frantic. Harlou bared his fangs, his lust now replaced with anger. He shot out of bed shoving the bedroom door open and i all but heard him leap down the flight of stairs. I stumbled to my feet trying to follow him but my legs gave away underneath me. "Stay here" Alex pleaded. "No something is wrong." I yelled back "Your in heat!" She shouted. "Yea i got that part" I spat back grabbing on to the nightstand hoisting myself up. "Its a phase that every she wolf comes into after finding her mate" She said trying to talk through the grogginess im sure we were both feeling. "It means you need to have sex! Now!" she said trying to use some of strength to stop me, but because of the talisman it only made me stumble. "I can smell Oliver, you cant go down there it may not affect your father because he's your blood but it will affect him!" she yelled using all her might to stop me as i got to the top of the steps, but instead i stumbled again this time forward, falling down the steps. Hitting the floor at the bottom with a loud thud i staggered upward looking around when the smell of blood hit my nose. I looked up to see Oliver on the ground trying to tear my dads leg off that was shoved against his neck keeping him on the ground while simultaneously holding shalom against the wall, but barely. Oliver caught my sent and snapped his neck in my direction his eyes burning orange like fire. He manages to shove my dad's leg off of him escaping being pinned and lunged toward me, but before he could reach me Harlou was on him sinking his teeth into his back knocking him to the ground. He let out a growl clawing at the ground. Kicking backward he sent Harlou flying knocking him into my dad. I stood up trying to fight this dizziness I was feeling. The heat was excruciating and i felt like i couldn't hold myself back. He stalked over to me and reached for me but immediately fell to the ground. A needle stuck out from the back of his neck empty. I looked up confused as to what the hell just happened to see a man standing behind him with long silky black hair. but he was gruff looking. He wasn't trying to lunge himself at me but i could still feel the pressure building. "I suggest you get her upstairs before this one wake's up" He said talking to my dad and harlou. He stood perfectly still. Harlou walked over to him baring his teeth and growling. "I mean you no harm" The man said calmly. Without a second thought Harlou picked me up and carried me upstairs. His sent hitting me like a train. I was no longer in control of my body, sinking my teeth into his neck i moaned at the taste of his blood, sweet and metalic. He growled digging his fingers into my thighs, trying to contain himself until he was out of sight from my dad. I felt like a real dog licking and sucking at his neck almost whimpering, begging for a release. I heard the door slam shut before i felt him slamming me on the bed. The sound of clothes tearing was the last thing i heard before his mouth was on me. I was now sweating, drenched, my entire body shaking as he crawled his was down my body. The moment his lips reached my center i exploded, unable to hold it in any longer i screamed in agony and pleasure but still wanting more i cried. but he never let up. I convulsed and shook my entire body on edge as he brought me over the edge again and again. But i could still feel a hunger that wouldn't cease. "Please" I begged. Harlou shot a look over my mound his eyes piercing blue and cold. he gave my now swollen lips a gentle kiss, yanking me to the edge of the bed before stripping himself of his clothes. Releasing his throbbing erection he didn't waste a second shoving himself inside, My mind started spinning i screamed his name unable to contain the pleasure i was feeling only this time it was different than before it felt deliciously beautiful like it was the first time all over again with him. He leaned forward bringing me closer to him wrapping his arms around my body pulling me into each thrust. I felt my body shaking again. I could feel the heat from my body coming to the edge along with my sanity, mercilessly he kept his pace slamming into to me. If it weren't for this heat i think he would've broken me in half. "Ive got you kitten, let it go" As he uttered those words i came undone spiraling down. He finished at the same time holding me tight trying to keep me still. I could feel my heat coming down and my body starting to feel cold. "I love you" I heard him whisper in my ear before i passed out. As I was coming out of my sleep my head was pulsating. I felt like I had a hangover only worse. Shalom was lying awake beside me. His arms crossed behind his head, looking as beautiful as always. "Hello there" Shalom said smiling. Looking over at me. "That's not how I imagined your first heat but it wasn't disappointing" He smirked. He got up and walked around the bed to the dresser grabbing my clothes out he tossed them to me. "Come on, there's someone you should meet." He said. I recalled the man that put Oliver down. I got dressed quickly my head still drumming and clumsily followed him downstairs. I was greeted by my dad Oliver and the man from earlier. "Sorry about that" oliver said lowering his head. "I'll tell you more later" Alex chimed in my head. I could still tell she was groggy, but she seemed to be a bit better. My dad got up and disappeared into the kitchen. Coming back out he had some headache pills and a glass of water. "Not my first rodeo kiddo" He smiled putting the pills in my hand. I quickly took them thanking him silently. And the thought flashed in my head of my mom having her first heat with her dad. I shuttered in disgust. That's not an image I want in my brain. "Ewe" Alex laughed. "Hi, I'm Kayan" The man said reaching out his hand to me. I shook it quickly examining his hands. They were ruff like he's worked with them his whole life. "Are you another wolf?" I said curiously. "No I'm not actually, but I was raised by them" He stated. "How so?" my dad cut In. I looked over my dads shoulder, Shalom was standing on the wall with his arms crossed staring at Kayan. His eyes flashing to Harlou's piercing blue eyes every now and then. "My father was human, my mother was a wolf. I guess it just didn't get passed down to me" He said side eying Harlou. "I've rarely heard of wolves mating with humans" My dad said looking to me with confusion. I recalled what Eldrid told me about her mother. "Its not uncommon" Kayan said. I couldn't help but notice he kept eyeing Shalom. I looked over to him and he was already giving me a look, So What brought you here?" I asked. "Well i may not have a wolf myself but i still have some senses and i know the scent of a she wolf in heat anywhere. It just doesn't bother me like it would your friend over there" He said gesturing to oliver. "I walk the trail not far from here gathering natural herbs when i caught the sent i would've ignored it but i could hear the commotion as well, figured id give a helping hand if need be. "You don't know us, why would you willingly put yourself in harm's way?" Shalom asked finally breaking his silence. "Its what she would of done." He said smiling. "My mother she was sort of a good Samaritan she'd risk her life for anyone...She just loved everyone." He said almost sad. "I-..." He started looking at shalom. "You look very familiar, i just cant put my finger on it." he said sitting back in his chair. "I hadn't picked up on it earlier because her scent was overpowering my senses." Harlou retorted. I sometimes got annoyed that they just switched without warning. "I guess my father was very busy huh...." I looked at him in shock. He couldn't be saying Kayan is his brother. "Makes sense" Kayan laughed. "The bastard wasn't exactly father of the year, My mother is the one that buried the bastard when he died. He disappeared a year after i was born, then a few years later he came back saying he was dying. I left, i wanted nothing to do with him but my mother having such a big heart, she took him in and cared for him until he died. Put him in his packs cemetery. "His pack?" I said confused. "He still has one?" My dad asked. "Not really I couldn't take over as alpha no wolf will follow a human, but my grandma...Our grandma and grandpa still lives there, I found out about them after he died my mother would ask me to go check in on them. Thats when i found out everyone had basically left, they couldnt leave the place so i moved out there when my mother died, i tend to the lands and take care of them. Me and my dad both gave shalom a look at the same time. It could be too soon but Shalom being an alpha and his son gives him the right to claim the territory his dad left. "Do you know why he died?" Shalom asked kayan. "Nah, just figured the selfish bastard had it coming." He said shrugging it off. Shalom gave me a side eye and i knew what he meant. "Hey dad, Oliver can i talk to you guys in the kitchen?" I asked standing up looking between the two of them they looked around reading the room and quickly got up to follow me. "Dad" I said wanting to ask him about the pack. "Its only his if he wants it kiddo. And although Kayan cant rightfully take over he's been the one keeping the place, he could take it if he wanted but it'd be rude and cruel. They need to sort this one out on their own. "What are the chances he'd even stumble across him like this. Well we are on neutral territory, that's why me and your mother moved here, not being a part of a pack, it was the safest. Last I heard, Mathias pack was west of here its far on foot but about an hour drive from here. The town down the mountain is where a lot of packs come for information or to buy certain things." He said grabbing a drink out of the fridge. "It still seems odd to me" I said peering around the corner at the two of them when Kayan burst into laughter. I walked over to them curious as to what was funny. "I cant believe it, So a curse huh? I don't think i could've thought of a better death for the bastard. I am sorry that we suffered the same fate thanks to him." He said laughing hysterically. But it made me angry. "That same curse is passed down through their bloodline!" I yelled, my emotions spilling out of me without control. "He may have deserved that for abandoning his children but Shalom doesn't deserve that at all!" I fought back my tears, not wanting to give up hope. "Im sorry..." Kayan said quietly. "No need, its not anyone's fault" Shalom cut in trying to defuse the situation. "I think i should go.." He said smiling. "Its nice to know i have a family...A brother, a sister-in law. But i should get back to my grandparents. I left them in town to shop and stop by to see some old friends but they are probably looking for me by now. You guys should come by sometimes." He said reaching his hand out to Shalom. "I think we will" He replied. I felt bad now Shalom was right it wasnt anyone's fault and i shouldn't have snapped at him. "Im sorry Kayan..." I said extending my hand. He pushed my hand to the side giving me a gentle hug instead. "Its alright, no harm done." He said his goodbye's to everyone and left. We cleaned up the mess they made earlier And my dad started prepping for dinner. I hope you dont mind, your dad offered me to stay here. Until we can locate Naomi. He figured if she was still out there, there could be a chance she'd been watching us so it wasnt safe for me to stay home." He said. "Its fine, but you could always just buy another home couldnt you?" I asked. "I could but..." he stopped looking for the words. "Its fine Oliver, stop giving the kid a hard time" My dad cut in. "Oliver you mind coming to help me in the kitchen, if your going to be here might as well pull your weight." My dad said ushering him into the kitchen. I rubbed my face frustrated. It seems like we can never catch a break. "Im feeling up for a run" Alex chimed in my head. "About time" I grinned happy to oblige. Its been a while and i couldnt wait to feel a bit free. I looked to Shalom as i got up to go outside. "You go ahead im gonna go take a shower" He said. I made my way outside and into the trees. Letting go i felt her shifting, it was uncomfortable as always, but id never missed the feeling more. Before i new it she was fully shifted and sprinting through the woods.
