The jet soars through white and gray clouds and reaches millions of buildings, some small and some are skyscrapers. The universe of Mandem is located between the Earth's sky and the Karman line, just resting right above the Earth, in it's own world.
"Immortatliumness is just ahead. Just 5 more minutes." Astrid says to Tatum.
"So this is Mandem? Like it's own world?" She asked Astrid while looking out the window.
"Precisely, yes. It has a force field around the Earth's sky and the Karman line, meaning that the force field is the reason for the structures standing. If something gets through, we would be in danger." Astrid says to Tatum as the jet slowly lands on top of a rounded tall building, the tallest building in all of Immortatliumness.
"Welcome to STARS." Astrid says to Tatum as the jet slowly gets lowered into the building and stays on the first floor. The jet doors slowly open to reveal a big room with people in black uniforms, waiting for them.
"Come on dear." Astrid says as she reaches for Tatum's hand to help her out of the jet, Tatum is reluctant at first but takes Astrid's hand. Lee takes Tatum's duffle bag for her.
"Guards, this is Tatum. One of our newest candidates." Astrid says to the men. One was a Caucasian male with brown hair, and around 6 feet tall. The one beside him had a light brown hue to his skin tone and was an inch shorter than his fellow guard. Both had short buzz cut hair and both had no expression on their faces.
"Hello Tatum." They both say, as if they were robots and were programmed to speak at the same time.
"Ah, Astrid you made it in one piece." A fair skinned older man says as he walks past the guards and gives Astrid's hand a shake. The man had grayish, light brown hair. He had slight stubble around his chin and mouth, going a little above his lip. He looked like he was in his 40s.
"George, it's always a pleasure to see you. This is Tatum." Astrid says with a smile and put her hand on the middle of Tatum's back, as a way of affection.
George looks Tatum up and down, "Hopefully she's worthy enough to be on one of the teams. Maybe even the Mortal Troopers." He smirked at her. Tatum felt a lump form in her throat. Can he tell? Can he tell I'm just a normal person?, Tatum thought.
"George, don't be silly. She will be making one of the immortal teams, I have no doubt." Astrid says with a bright smile.
"Well only time will tell I guess. Let's see if she makes it past all 8 tests." George says to Astrid. He eyes Tatum one more time before making his way towards the front door.
"That is George Kline, he is one of the Directors here at STARS." Astrid whispers to Tatum as they make their way to the door. They walk down the hallway towards a big elevator. George, Astrid, and Tatum step in. Astrid hits the #3 button, and types into the small screen "Main". The elevator moves down in a swift motion to the point where Tatum swore she had a bit of whiplash from the strong force.
"We are here." Astrid says as they all get off the elevator.
"Lee will be taking your bag to your dorm room." Astrid says to Tatum.
"Dorm room?" Tatum asked Astrid suspiciously.
"Yes, while training here you will be living here as well. STARS is your new home, for now." Astrid says as they walk past massive rooms, with 15 by 23 feet black squares on the ground while the rest of the ground is bright red. There are about 18 black squares in what assumes to be one of the training rooms.
They walk past a few people sparing on the mats, some with weapons like swords and others fighting with their fists.
"Looking good, Tommy." Astrid says to a 5'9", medium brown skinned young man. He had a short afro, maybe only an inch long and had a perfect smile on his face.
