Today was a big day for Immortals at STARS, the first official cut.
Tatum was nervous, as Jung-Hoon already cut so many people days prior. He cut someone yesterday because they were 2 minutes late to the 8am training session. 958, was how many immortals was left for the first testing.
What Jung-Hoon said days prior really stuck with Tatum, You are no longer an Earthling, you are immortal. Start acting like it.
She hated to admit that, that asshole made a point but he did. For the next 3 days, Tatum focused more. She watched immortal's movements, how they dodged attacks and how they attacked. All she thought was she needed to replicate it, to the best of her ability. She has to start acting immortal, even though she's not and she's never been a good actress. She can't hide what she's feeling.
All 958 immortals on the I-1 enter the I-1 main training room. Vern comes to the front with Jung-Hoon and his friends trailing behind. Vern ushers the immortals to sit down, so they all comply. Jung-Hoon's friends go over to stand on the sidelines of the training room.
"Hello, and welcome to the first testing of the STARS future soldiers for year 2583." Vern says with his hands behind his back, everyone hollers and claps for him.
"You will be tested today on your ability, stealth, and how many hits you can get." Vern says to the young immortals.
"Jung-Hoon says this could be his best candidates but I'll be the judge of that. This is the easiest test out of all 8, after today it will get more difficult and not all of you will survive. Only 3.6% of you will make it till the end. To be the official I-1 immortal soldiers." Vern says walking around, sizing up each immortal. "This is based on a point system, the more points you get, the higher your ranking goes." Vern says as he walks back to the front to be beside Jung-Hoon, he nods to Jung-Hoon as a way for Jung-Hoon to speak.
"How you earn points is simple." Jung-Hoon says stepping forward. "If you hit someone, you get a point. If you dodge someone, you get a point. If you miss hitting someone, you don't get anything." Jung-Hoon says eyeing Tatum, as if he could tell that, that's what would happen to her. "Don't even think about stepping out of the line, if you do, you're out." He says as he looks at Vern.
"You will be fighting each other for spots, so you're friends, might not be your friends after today." Jung-Hoon says with a smirk, like he's excited to see some drama go down but not get involved.
"You're names will be randomly drawn by the same kind of technology that was used to generate what team you deserved to be in." Vern says.
"The first round is basic boxing. There will be 5 minutes on the clock, if you can get 5 hits in 5 minutes, you're in the safe zone for the second testing. If you can dodge them, well I can't 100% guarantee the same for you." Vern says to the immortals. Tatum slowly raises her hand, as if she's back in high school.
"What are you doing?" Jung-Hoon asked with a laugh.
"I have a question." Tatum says to him with anger in her voice.
"You don't have to put your arm up dear, just speak." Vern says with a chuckle, which made some immortals laugh at her. Crap, they must not do these kinds of things here, I have to watch it, Tatum thought.
"You said you earn points if you dodge." Tatum says to the men.
"That is correct." Vern says to her.
"But then you just said that the immortals that dodge aren't in the safe zone for the next test." Tatum says to him.
"Why yes, you can't expect to win a fight by dodging. You got to get a few hits in." Vern says with a chuckle, which makes Jung-Hoon chuckle.
"Shall we fire up the Originator Pulse?" Jung-Hoon asks Vern. "Yes that would be a good idea." Vern says to him in response.
