Since Clarissa's shocking revelation, he left her alone to pack up her things, standing in the kitchen with a glass in one hand and the other balled into a fist as he stared off into the distance, Lucas making his way into the kitchen with his suitcase packed, their eyes met and he simply sighed out and walked over, opening his arms and Loki embraced the man, he had attempted to stay calm for her, she was pregnant and he didn't want to shock her or upset her in any way but he couldn't but feel slight betrayal, feeling like he had opened his home to her to get stabbed in the back.
It had barely been a month since Lucas had been there with them and he had an illusion everything was going by smoothly, the man mumbling into his friend's shoulder "You can stay, you don't have to go back, please, feel free"
"I can't let her drive back on her own" Lucas whispered, pulling back and seeing the man standing with tear filled eyes, reaching his hand up to his hair and brushing the dark strands out of his eyes "I told Claude to get his meth and hookers gone, he said he's glad to have Clarissa back, says he misses us"
"You'll call if you need anything?" He asked, the man asked with furrowed brows and his hand still firmly grasping onto the mans shoulder as if afraid he was going to vanish into thin air "I just need to know everything is okay... I don't think she'll be too fond of me coming back down and hanging around all the time anymore"
"I think she just needs some time, I'm sure she'll be back in no time" Lucas insisted, his eyes dragging over to the hallway connecting the living room and kitchen to see the woman walk by, a low sigh escaping the man and a slow shake of his head.
"I don't think so mate, I'll still come and visit, gotta see my Grandma, I'll give you a call and maybe you could come get a drink with me" He spoke with a smile, clearing his throat and tapping the counter "I'm just gonna go say goodbye to your sister, yeah?"
"Sure" Lucas whispered, knowing that was code for 'Stay out there' and so he did, Loki made his way through the hallway, witnessing her placing the luggage by the door and tugging her cardigan closer to her body, turning around and seeing the man slowly approaching her.
"I've got a few things left here, you don't mind bringing them by another time do you?" She asked, the man slowly shaking his head and widening his arms, the woman glancing at him and looking away "I... I want you to know I'm planning on giving birth to the baby"
"You're not putting it up for adoption are you?" He asked, their eyes meeting as she shrugged her shoulders, letting out a sigh and looking down at her belly "Can I? I'll take care of it, please?"
"With your job?" She asked with a scoff, raising her brow as the man frowned and looked down at her belly, reaching his hand out and she stayed put, looking down at her belly as he reached out to softly hold his hand against her "If you think you can take care of a baby... Then yes"
"Please go back to that doctor I took you to, he'll take care of you, I'll call you" He assured, the woman nodding and turning, pulling down the door handle and calling out.
"Lucas come on" And that was it, not a final goodbye, nothing.
She just left.
Perhaps this was the reaction he should have expected, all the stress from everything rolled into one and she finally exploded but it wasn't the way he was expecting, it wasn't crying and throwing things, she was calm and collected and she left the house.
