Izuku slams the button on his alarm when he wakes up. He had forgone his nightly workout routine the night before in order to wake up early. Quickly packing his essentials and getting dressed, he runs out the door after some encouraging words from his mother.
Sprinting through the vast halls of the school, he couldn't help but marvel at the sheer size. 'Wha is their budget?' He eventually finds a door labeled 1-A. 'Big door. Must be for mutation types.' He opens the door to find the rude kid from the exam berating Kacchan for how he's sitting. Izuku sweat drops. 'Why am I not surprised?'
The blue one seems offended by something Kacchan said. "I am Tenya Iida from Somei private academy." Before Kacchan could respond with a more colourful version of "I don't care" Iida notices Izuku and rushes towards him and extends his hand. "Hello, I am Tenya Iida."
Izuku looks at the offered hand with disdain. "I heard. Izuku Midoriya."
He attempts to walk past him but Iida stops him. "I must apologise for my actions during the entrance exam. You managed to deduce the true purpose of the zero pointer while I did not."
That was the wrong thing to say. "You thing I stopped someone from being trampled by a killer robot because of a point system? I knew as much about the exam as anyone else, and if you need an ulterior motive to save someone from literal death, then you don't deserve to be here." Kachan is heard cackling at the shocked bluette's expense.Uraraka chooses that moment to enter. "I recognise that curly hair. You're that one punch boy! Midoriya, right?"
Izuku whips around. "Uraraka! It's good to see that you got in."
She nods so fast her head blurs. "I know! Your advice must have really worked, because I can third! What about you?"
Izuku rubs the back of his head sheepishly. "I came in first. Kacchan was a close second." Said blonde lazily waves in acknowledgement.
Before his classmates could barrage him with questions regarding what he just said, a yellow caterpillar flops in from the hallway. "If you're just here to make friends, you can leave." It drinks from a squeezee yoghurt. Standing up, the sleeping bag peels away to reveal a haggard guy in black clothes and a scarf. I'm your home room teacher, Shota Aizawa." He throws them gym uniforms. "Put these on and follow me."
Uraraka looks confused. "But what about orientation?"
Before the teacher can respond, Izuku answers he question. "It's sort of UA's curriculum. The teachers here don't have a singular way for doing things. It's why they churn out suck good heroes."Outside, the class waits for their teacher to start the lesson. "This will be a test fo your quirks. In middle school, you competed in a series of sports in order to gauge your physical abilities. In UA, that doesn't apply." He points at Kacchan. "You got the highest number of villain points. Demonstrate." He throws the blonde a ball, which he then explodes ik order to send it over 700 metres away. A litter of the students chatter excitedly, saying how fun this'll be.
Izuku goes stiff when he sees the teachers shit-eating grin. 'That was a mistake.'
Aizawa brushes the hair from his face. "Fun huh? Alright. How's this for fun? The person who scores last will be expelled due to a lack of potential.""Expelled!?" Uraraka exclaims. "That's not fair!"
Aizawa levels her with a look. "Life is unfair. It's a heroes job to correct that unfairness. If you think you were going to have all the free time in the world, you have another thing coming. This is UA. We either turn you into a hero or we chew you up and spit you out. That's Plus Ultra. If you can't handle it, save me the trouble of me expelling you later." No one moved. "Then let's get started."Considering his quirk wasn't made for something like this, Izuku liked to think he did decently well. He'd have to wait for the ball throw in order to properly incorporate One For All and get a massive score, but other than that, as long as he maintained a decent score he'd be fine. He actually felt bad for the invisible girl. Her quirk was less suited to this than his was, and she seemed to be struggling to keep up with anyone. Soon enough, they made it to the ball throw. 'Just gotta try and keep a handle on it. I've had a quirk my whole life, I can handle this. I'll just have to use that visualisation method I had as a kid." He wound back his arm and felt the familiar power surge, but when he threw the ball, it only landed 40 metres away and he spontaneously de-transformed. "What? My quirk stopped. Why did it-?"
"I erased your quirk." Izuku looks at his teacher, who now has his hair and scarf floating slightly.
"Of course. You're the underground erasure hero; Eraserhead." This triggered whispers from the classmates who had a general idea of who he is.Ignoring that, Aizawa glares at his green (literally and figuratively) student. "I saw you at the entrance exam. You can barely control your quirk. You'd be a liability on the battle field. You think someone's going to fix you every time you break? Unless you n do the bare minimum to stand in your own, you should consider other career options."
Izuku glares back at his teacher. "With all due respect, it's not like that. My quirk lets me adapt to things. I just overloaded my body. I can output a lot, but I can't handle the backlash. I didn't even know I could do that before the entrance exam. But that's why we're here. To learn. Not everyone fully understands their quirk from the get-go, that's why people can update the registry. Our job is to learn more about our quirks and make ourselves stronger, not just use what's already there. We're not performing monkeys." Everyone watches in stunned silence at what Izuku just said to their teacher.
Aizawa's glare hardens and he looks like he's about to say something, but he just sighs and blinks, his hair returning to normal. "Just go."Izuku steps into the circle, once again in his evolved state. 'That wa weird. He seems so sure I don't belong here. He sounded like he planned on expelling, but if I'm right then that invisible girl should be last. But that would mean...' he smirks at the realisation. 'He's going to tamper with the scores. That means I have to impress him in some way. If not with my power, then I have to think. I can't regulate One For All yet, but I can't not use it.' He runs a few ideas through his head before smiling. "If I can't regulate my output, I'll focus it instead." He winds his arm back, and mid throw he focuses the full power of OFA into the tip of his finger, the force of the ball breaking the sound barrier. He smiles vigorously at his teacher. "I can still move, sensei."
