Sebastian made a pit stop at the office and rushed outside. He got to his bike and pulled out a pack of cigarettes. He grabbed one and placed it in his mouth while taking out a lighter. He smoothly lit the cigarette and inhaled a lung full of smoke, then exhaled, relaxing as he did so. Just as he was about to go for another drag, Bella came out of nowhere.

"Seb? What're you doing?!?" Bella practically screeched.

"This isn't gonna kill me Bells, the shit in my head is," Sebastian stated.

"Then what are you trying to do? Kill yourself faster?" Bella angrily whispered.

"Exactly. I should've died a long time ago. I'm sorry, Bells, but I'm tired of living like this. I just want the pain to go away, and smoking helps." Sebastian explained.

Bella stood shocked for a second but then brushed a tear away. Sebastian gathered her up in a hug. She held him tight, not wanting to let go. She finally let go, and Sebastian climbed onto his motorcycle. They talked about their day while Sebastian finished his cigarette. Just before he put his helmet on, Bella reminded him;

"Don't forget to go to your doctor's appointment, Seb. Give him a chance, okay?" Bella said, almost pleading.

"Fine, I'm only going because dad set up the appointment already." Sebastian agreed.

Bella smiled at his agreement and left for her truck. Sebastian sighed, then started his motorcycle. He checked his watch and realized that his appointment was in ten minutes. He groaned at his dad's timing.

He revved the engine and pulled out of the parking lot. The drive over to the small hospital was very quick, and before Sebastian processed the fact that he was going to another doctor, he arrived. He parked and slowly took his helmet and gloves off.

Dreading the visit, Sebastian took as much time as he could, making his way into the hospital. The nurse's desk was to his immediate right, and he made his way over to check in. The nurse looked up in surprise at his arrival, but she smiled and said;

"Good afternoon. Do you have an appointment?"

"I'm Sebastian Swan, here for Dr. Cullen," Sebastian stated.

"I see. Here you are, I'll go and tell Dr. Cullen, that you're here. Please take a seat, and he'll be right out." The nurse responded.

Sebastian nodded and walked over to the chairs and sat down. He didn't have to wait long, a young-looking doctor came out. Sebastian stood up to introduce himself. They met in the middle of the hallway, and Dr. Cullen reached out to shake Sebastian's hand. Sebastian quickly shook his head, not liking to touch people, and he knew immediately that Dr. Cullen was a vampire. Dr. Cullen noticed the refusal and simply nodded in greeting.

"Hello, I'm Dr. Cullen. I hope I haven't kept you waiting long." Dr. Cullen introduced himself.

"I'm Sebastian, and no, I wasn't. Besides, I've sat in many hospital chairs, and my ass is used to them." Sebastian introduced himself.

Dr. Cullen smiled and let out a genuine laugh at Sebastian's comment. There was a brief flash of appreciation in Sebastian's eyes. Dr. Cullen led Sebastian to his office and gestured for him to sit down. Sebastian made himself comfortable while Dr. Cullen sat down.

"So, Sebastian, tell me about yourself. Hobbies, interests, whatever you feel like." Dr. Cullen started.

"You have my medical history in front of you, but you haven't opened it. Why?" Sebastian asked.

"Because I want to get to know you. Medical history only tells me about cancer and treatments. Not the person who's affected by said illness and treatment." Dr. Cullen explained.

"My respect for you just went up marginally. Let's see, I got cancer when I was two and did chemotherapy for a year and a half. That's when I was told that the chemo wasn't working anymore and that I was terminal. I've accepted that I'm gonna die." Sebastian said in a monotone.

"Well, that's quite a lot. You still haven't told me a thing about you specifically." Dr. Cullen cajoled.

"Cancer is my life, Dr. Cullen. As far as interests, I like motorcycles, history, and art. That's it." Sebastian stated defensively.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you, Sebastian. I'm just trying to understand you. In medical terms, the fact that you've lived with a terminal illness for so long is astounding. But, I don't want to sound like every other doctor you've met." Dr. Cullen apologized.

"You sound like the therapist that my mother forced me to go to," Sebastian muttered.

"I see that you don't respect doctors or therapists for that matter." Dr. Cullen observed.

"You wouldn't respect doctors after being stabbed with needles for a year and not being told why you can't be around other kids or go outside. You wouldn't respect therapists either if all they told you was that you're lucky to be alive and should -" Sebastian muttered.

"Why did you stop yourself?" Dr. Cullen questioned.

*Sigh* "Since you're the only doctor that I have some respect for, I'll tell you. I smoke. Itt's the one thing in my life that I have control over." Sebastian answered.

"Well, that's your decision, Sebastian. I may have opinions about your decision, but I can't and won't try to change your mind." Dr. Cullen calmly stated.

"Thanks, can I go? You can do your own research on my medical history." Sebastian asked.

"Of course, if you ever want to talk, here's my phone number. I'll make the time." Dr. Cullen offered.

Sebastian took the business card from Dr. Cullen and left the office. He sighed as he left the hospital, his constant headache feeling worse than usual. He drove home and went up to his room. He dropped his backpack on the floor and flopped onto his bed, exhausted.

A couple of hours later, Charlie came up, worried that Sebastian hadn't come down in a very long time. He quietly walked over to his son's sleeping form and gently shook him awake. Sebastian groaned in complaint but woke up and sat up in bed. Charlie stared concernedly at his son. Sebastian looked up at Charlie, still half asleep.

"You okay?" Charlie asked.

"Yeah, I 'm fine. I'm just tired from the day." Sebastian muttered.

"Well, Bella made dinner, so why don't you come down and eat something?" Charlie suggested.

"Sure," Sebastian answered and got up.

He followed his dad downstairs and saw that Bella had made spaghetti. She had made his spaghetti with extra meat in the sauce. He gave her a small smile as a thank you and sat down. Dinner was a silent affair on Sebastian's part. Bella and Charlie had an awkward conversation about their day. Once Sebastian was done, he excused himself to go and do what little homework he had. He finished and read for a while before getting ready for bed.

Wow, a bit of a long one! Hopefully, you weren't bored. Please comment and like!
