Jenna POV.After what felt like hours, the nurse approached us. It was now almost 11pm and I was sure they would keep her overnight.
"Hi, Mrs?.." the middle aged lady questions, directed at my mom.
"Ortega" mom smiles
"Mrs Ortega. Before I tell you what happened in surgery i'm going to need a little more from you before disclosing such information"
"Jenna?" mom turns to me "you should take this"
"sure. uh, yeah what did you need?" I ask the nurse.
"full name of the patient. date of birth. firstly"
she says, holding a clipboard in her hand."y/n y/l/n and her date of birth is August 18th 1999"
"so you're not family?" the nurse raises an eyebrow in suspicion
"um. no ma'am." I stutter
"she's her girlfriend" my mom speaks up and I give her a death stare. she's kidding. oh my god this isn't happening. the nurse nods and continues to write on the piece of paper attached to the clipboard.
"does she have any family I could contact?"
Did she have any family? All I knew was how close she was to her grandparents but she never mentioned her parents. No siblings.
"no. we are all she has."
When it suddenly dawned on me. Apart from Jesy and Remi. To my knowledge, I was all she had. I'm so glad my mom likes her, I just knew my family would love her too.
"okay. I can tell you that surgery went well. but without any insurance or health information, the payment will be quite high"
"whatever it is i'll pay it" I said without hesitation
"right. y/n is in room 71. she's resting but you can go up and see her if you wish. visiting hours are closed so only one of you is permitted to do so."
"go" my mom gives me a tender kiss on my forehead. "you go. i'll head back to the hotel, not long before a story will break i'm sure. i'll keep tabs. I love you" she stood up and thanked the nurse.
Whom I then followed to where y/n would be. Am I prepared for what i'm about to see? I don't know. But nothing can be worse than seeing her covered in blood on the verge of dying.
Steady breathing and the sound of the monitor welcomed me as I eyed my beautiful girl hooked on oxygen and an IV drip bag. Her eyes flutter open as she notices my presence, I give her a loving smile and take a seat next to her. y/n reaches her hand out and i'm quick to take it.
"Hi" she croaks out, cracking me half a smile under the mask.
"Hi" I raise her hand to my lips kissing her palm tenderly then clutching it gently on my chest
"i'm so glad you're okay, I thought I was going to lose you" my eyes glazed over as they tease teardrops. She pouts her lips and squints her eyes as if I challenged her. "strong girl" was all she said along with a dry chuckle.
y/n removes her hand from mine against my chest and strokes my cheek lovingly before tucking some hair behind my right ear. I lean into her touch I so adore.
"my strong girl" I whisper. "get some sleep, i'll be right here" she retracts her hand and places it back by her side giving me a smile. it wasn't long before she drifted off.
Not wanting to be away from her touch, I clasp her hand once again and scoot my chair closer before falling into a slumber of my own. That threatened tear drop now slowly making its way down my face. I'm just so glad she's okay.
