Chapter 13 : It's a Goodbye

"Uncle Wen..." It was obvious that the boy had cried for a long time judging from his red and swollen eyes.

"What happen to Uncle Zhou?" Cheng Ling asked weakly as he watched his unconscious uncle.

"Ke Xing, what is actually happening? Was it...was it kidnapping? Who was the person who passed away in the warehouse? Was he another victim?" Zao An asked in confusion.

When Ke Xing found out that Zi Shu had left home without telling him, he had urged his subordinates to locate him and preparing himself to search for Zi Shu. As it was late in the evening, he didn't want to worry his grandpa and Cheng Ling. Therefore, he also didn't tell them that Zi Shu was going out. Due to a lot of commotion at home, Zao An and Cheng Ling was awake and he had no choice but to tell them only a part of the story. He deliberately kept few details for himself, especially about Zi Shu's father.

"Grandpa, Cheng Ling...A-Shu will be alright. Doctor Jing already checked him and there are no serious injuries. He's just exhausted. He'll awake in few hours. As for that person...it's a bit complicated. We'll explain about this matter to you once A-Shu gets better."

Zao An knew there was something hidden from him and felt dissatisfied with it. However, he couldn't force Ke Xing to spill it if whatever secret they both hid from him was related to Zi Shu. So, he ended up nodded his head.

"Let's go Cheng Ling. Let your uncle rest. Uncle Wen will inform us if your uncle awakes."

Cheng Ling reluctantly left the room with Zao An, leaving Zi Shu under Ke Xing's care. When Zi Shu fainted, Ke Xing decided to take him home and called Jing Beiyuan to check on Zi Shu at home. One of the considerations was because the perpetrator still at large. Ke Xing wanted to ensure Zi Shu's safety. At first, he was worried if something bad happened to Zi Shu. But Beiyuan had confirmed that Zi Shu only needed to rest and could be treated at home.

That's quite a relief. What's really worrying right now is his mentality. Will Zi Shu be alright with everything that has happened? How will he accept the fact that his father has gone?

Ke Xing broke from his reverie by Zi Shu's soft groan. He saw Zi Shu blinking his eyes slowly, adjusting his vision.

"A-Shu, you're awake?" Ke Xing reached out to Zi Shu's hand caressed the back of his hand with his thumb.

Zi Shu frowned while looking around the room. "Where am I?"

"Home. In my room."

"A-Xing...why am I here? Where...where is he? A-Xing..." Zi Shu sat up abruptly and got dizzy. He closed his eyes again and fall back to the bed.

"A-Xing..."

Ke Xing took his hand and squeezed it tightly. "I'm here, A-Shu. I'm here."

"Where..."

"A-Shu...You passed out after you managed to escape from the warehouse. About your father..." Ke Xing paused and Zi Shu looked at him with fear flashed from his eyes. "He didn't survive."

Zi Shu inhale sharply, his hand gripped Ke Xing's hand tightly, eyes blurry with tears. He shook his head frantically, refusing to accept it.

"NO. Don't lie to me, A-Xing. Please...don't lie to me."

Ke Xing slowly climbed onto the bed and pulled Zi Shu into his embrace. He had no comforting words to say. "A-Shu, I won't lie to you."

Zi Shu's tears fell uncontrollably like a broken dam as he buried his face onto Ke Xing's chest. It was the first time for Ke Xing to witnessed how broken Zi Shu was. Listening to Zi Shu wailing in grief, made his heart ache and he couldn't stop the tears that also fell from his eyes.
