CHAPTER 4 : (part 2) orphans

I left the room as soon as I saw through the dusty old window the orphans came back from their hunt. I had short baby legs, but I still ran as fast as I could.

By the time I went down stairs they were resting in the dining room. When I reached the dining room they were tired, and a complete mess. Some had severe injuries and others light bruises and small scraps.

There are at least 20 orphans 12 girls and 8 guys, they didn't look like they got any bounty from hunting and instead got nothing but injuries. I wanted to enter but I had no idea what to say and how to talk.

In the end I just ran for it and went back to the room with antique looking door. I thought to myself "maybe next time... they looked real tired... I shouldn't disturb them. "

I decided I would talk to them tomorrow when they're all completely rested. I ran back up stairs and back to the room. While I was In the room I decided to take a book and read, well it's better than nothing and at least I can read this world's language. I took the book and sat on the gramps chair.

While I was reading ... Boom! went the door and then came a the pig like Elfonz. He had a big smirk that even his fat rolls were smirking. I could tell he was quite happy.

Elfonz then decided he'd finally talk and said" Hey guess what kid... I got enough cash now to buy myself a noble title ".He said this cause he was always sucking up to nobles now he wants to become one.

As I thought this he then said " Don't worry this place is my money maker. So I'll never leave it... soon enough you'll be making me cash too.... Hahaha hahahaha! ".

To be honest I thought about running away when I turned 6 years old, but I don't know where to go and how long it will take to get to the next settlement.

Elfonz finally left dancing and singing, the sight of this disgusted me to the point where I almost threw up. I thought " I'm glad that disgusting pig finally left now I can read in peace ".

In the moment where I finally had peace and quiet I read the book finished. The book was old and had a unique fragrance. The book was one about magic, but it wasn't a magic Grimiour like in some anime where you could learn magic instantly rather it was a regular Grimiour where you had to learn and practice.

I couldn't use magic even if I wanted to so I read it out of curiosity. It was interesting and had many concepts as to how you can utilize mana.

'The first was to pore it threw your whole body this makes your physical self stronger. The second was spell circles using them is old school but has a massive blow to it. The third one was chanting saying the spells without the circle however it only works if you have great control and a object to channel the spell and the last one is the most used method chantless spells which means as long as you have the image of the spells you can use them.'

It wasn't very detailed but at least it gave meaning to the methods. So it was pretty good and maybe I might be able to use magic. I believe I'm a late bloomer when it comes to mana.

I noticed that while I finished the book it was already late. I said to myself "Tomorrow is a new day I'll speak to the orphans here I swear". I said as a vow that I will talk to them.

I left the grampa chair and left the book on the table. It's time to rest as I said this I immediately went to sleep... zzz.. zzz.

I woke up next morning early and got ready before the other orphans are ready to hunt. By the time I was finished the orphans were ready to leave, I ran all the way to the front door and said before they all went into the forest " Hey! ... have a safe hunt! "

They looked my way and waved back to me. "They were friendly " is what I thought at the moment. I went back to the room and while I was walking up stairs I heard Elfonz laughing and said to a crystal ball "The experiments going according to plan... you truly are a genius my Lord".

I thought to myself what plan is he talking about and who is he talking to. So I didn't get caught I ran to my room. As curious as I was I cared more for my life.

I waited until the other orphans came back... but I was worried it was already midnight and they aren't back yet.

Then I noticed a small light coming from the forest. The light got bigger until I saw a glimpse of movement, it had been the the orphans.

I was extatic to see they came back, but by the time they reached the door I was frightened of what I saw. There clothes were ripped, they were covered in injuries and bruises. When they came closer I saw the one who had greeted me was in the arms of the biggest orphan.

He was covered in blood and had a gigantic stab in the back where his heart is located. When I saw this I ran, ran as fast as I could until I reached my room. When I got to my room I threw up emmidiatly, my body was covered in goosebumps and I was shivering. I couldn't even see anymore cause I was shedding tears as well.

I passed out again this time it was in my own vomit. When I woke up the next day I was covered completely in my vomit, but at least I calmed down.

When I took a look outside the orphans were all standing in the graveyard with empty eyes and no tears as the orphan who passed away was being buried.

As I saw this tears weld up and before I knew it I was crying again. While the burial was in place I saw Elfonz grinning and said " So who of you wish to join your friend in hell. "I froze for a moment as I heard this statement.

Then all of the orphans said while smiling and crying " please kill us... we can't take it anymore... living like this. " all of them plead for death.

By the sight of this Elfonz said " Hmm... guess what all of you will live and make me money for as long as your souls are in your body ". As he said this I noticed that dark spirits started surrounding the children as all of them cried.

I got so angry that I took all my strength and tried throwing the old antique door with the old grandpa chair, but I couldn't I was to weak and even worse there was nothing that I could do. This was when I realized that the only way to live in this world, in this place is to live like everyday is your last.

This was the day when I stopped smiling and crying, cause I know I will die sooner or later. My goal now is to get stronger so I don't get consumed by regret and darkness. I don't want to die a second time.

The other orphans stayed outside putting flowers by their friends grave. Elfonz left and as for me I stayed inside the room lost in thought, but while in my thoughts decided that that I will excel in both strength and knowledge. If strength helps the body then knowledge is help the mind. I'll study while training my body in order to survive this world.

I've read many books these last three years, I'm now five years old and ready to start body training. I must make sure I strengthen my body just as I've strengthen my mind.

"This is only the beginning of my life I'll make sure I survive and meet you again Ajin" ....
