"We're clear!" CJ shouted when she knew there were no more Whisperers around.
"Come on!" Magna yelled, and the three of them started to make their way back to the hole.
Suddenly though, there was another big explosion that shook the cave again. The three of them had to stop and froze when they saw the hole cave in on itself.
CJ ducked her head and held her arms up as dust and heavy rocks came breaking down over them, and everything went black.
**********
A heavy pressure was felt on her back as the ground stopped shaking. CJ opened her eyes, only to squint them tightly shut again when her head pounded. Whatever was on her back was sharp and jagged, and she figured that she'd be partially buried by broken rocks.
Her breathing was shallow as she panted quickly, and her heart was in her mouth. Her hands were shaking as she pushed herself off the unsteady ground, and she felt the pressure on her back disappear as the rocks toppled off of her when she got to her knees.
Her ears were ringing, and that was all she could hear. She managed to open her eyes again, blinking rapidly to relieve the stinging of the dust as it hit her face. Everything hurt and ached, and she could barely see anything. There was no more daylight, no more flaming torches. It was just so dark.
It was like she was moving in slow motion as she managed to stand, and she had to kick her feet out before taking a step to ensure she wasn't going to trip. It was all a blur trying to figure out what exactly happened. There was an explosion, the ceiling caved in over her head, and she was still underground. The others all got out. Except two others.
"Mag-Magna!" CJ's voice shook as she tried to call out. "Magna! Connie!"
Her throat was so dry, and her ears were still ringing to the point she could barely hear herself. She felt like she was being crushed by the humidity of the air, and her head felt heavy as she struggled to keep walking and wading through the thick dust and broken stones.
"Magna!" she called out, desperate to hear her friend's voice, but received no answer again.
She couldn't be alone down here. It was bad enough when she was with the group, but being alone was a whole different nightmare. She needed to find a way out of this cave. She needed to get out, to find the others, to find Daryl.
The ringing in her ears started to fade, much to her relief, and she shook her head a little. It was still far too dark to see anything, but as the ringing in her head finally stopped, she didn't need to be able to see to know where she was.
The growls of Alpha's horde were so loud that she found herself willing the ringing to come back. She brought her shaking hands to her ears to try and drown the noise out as her head pounded again. Not that covering her ears did anything; it just made it a little muffled, but no quieter.
A sudden loud growl came from much closer to her, and she spun around to barely see the shadow of a walker as it reached for her. She started walking backwards blindly and reached for the knife on her left hip, groaning when she remembered giving it to Kelly earlier.
She used her full strength (which wasn't much) to shove the walker's chest. It took a bit of a fall back, but quickly advanced to her again, giving a louder growl. CJ reached for her other knife and raised it to drive through the forehead of the walker, the body becoming a dead weight in her arms.
