The Gardner and Stoll residents sat right next to each other on Sunset Ave.
Mr. Gardner and Mrs. Stoll had been Highschool best friends. Katie Gardner, the eldest child, absolutely abhorred Travis Stoll, the eldest Stoll child. And this since diapers!
It all started when Travis hid Katie's blocks or toys. As they matured, or in Travis' case only grew older, the pranks became more... thought out. Slime, changing of Katie's alarm noise, and whatever else Travis could think of.
However, this went almost completely unnoticed by their parents, and many sleepovers occurred due to the children falling asleep before the visits were over.
Around a year after Katie and Travis, both Miranda Gardner and Connor Stoll were born. Surprisingly, the two got along well and later tried out their matchmaking skills on their siblings.
Connor became the second prank mastermind, but being the younger child, often got away with it, even at home.
Miranda became Katie's best friend (A/N: yes, they're sisters, but sisters can also be friends.) The two did everything together, including yelling at the Stoll brothers together.
Sadly, only a few months after the births of their second children, Mrs. Gardner passed away in a subway crash, while Mr. Stoll was killed in a car crash.
In their grief, the two families turned to each other and were often together. While Mr. Gardner and Mrs. Stoll never developed feelings for each other, they both helped build two sets of bunk beds in the spare bedroom for when a Stoll spawn would visit.
Usually, it was only one at a time, and it was usually Travis. You see, he was the one who often got caught when he did his pranks, so to escape his mother's wrath, he would hide out at the Gardner's until he had memorized a new apology speech.
The other times a Stoll, specifically Travis, would be visiting the Gardners, specifically Katie, would be when he needed a study partner.
Late night studying often turned into sleepovers and it all became pretty routine.
One day, Travis had pulled a bad prank on both his mother and brother, as well as having a bucket load of homework due and a major test the next day.
In other words, another trip to the Gardner's home.
Knocking frantically on the door, Travis stood there anxiously as he waited for someone to come to the door. He had a (stolen) key but wanted to be polite despite his fear of being murdered by his brother. For some reason Travis could not understand, his brother left him alone when at the Gardners.
But anyway, when she opened the front door, Katie... blushed? Travis blinked and when he opened his eyes again, Katie was rolling hers but gesturing to the curly-haired boy to come in.
"Thanks," Travis said.
"Travis, I know you probably want to play, hang out, or prank me all afternoon, but I have a lot of studying to do. And school has left me on my very last nerve."
"Chill Katie-Kat. I've got tons of studying too. Remember? We're both in the same English class. I am fully aware of tomorrow's exam and I want to study for it. Study buddies?" Travis asked hopefully.
"Whatever. You know where snacks and drinks are. Help yourself then come to the spare room." Katie said and walked away.
Two hours later, the two were still working away at their homework.
Miranda had gone over to the Stoll household to meet up with Conner. She was getting over her breakup with Sherman Yang, a boy who was in his junior year of Highschool, and both Katie and Travis had a sneaking suspicion that Miranda liked Conner.
