Percy has been working at a marine biology center for two years. One day, he was put in charge of two interns. One was often acting slightly odd. He had this computer bag he would take almost everywhere, and he would lock it in a safe when they went out to sea.

One day, at the center, Percy was doing some paperwork when the strange intern came in...

"What's up, man?" Percy asked. The intern grinned, his hands elongating into claws. Percy sighed. He had suspected as much.

Percy took out Riptide and slashed through the monster's midriff. The creature exploded in golden dust, then blew away in some non-existent wind.  Wonderful! All that was left was a little mist manipulation and everyone would think the kid had gone back to Minnesota to take care of his sick dad.

The bag the intern had been carrying around appeared at Percy's feet.

He was obsessed with this. Why? Percy asked himself.

Curious, Percy looks inside... only to find Daedalus' laptop and Annabeth's dagger in it!

Percy swallowed his excitement with difficulty and decided to wait the five days until his second wedding anniversary with Annabeth. The lost magical items would be the best anniversary gifts ever.

-Six days later-

Percy had almost let his gift slip. Around three different times. It was nerve-wracking. And the items, as wonderful as they were, were bringing back some of Percy's nightmares, but thankfully not as bad as they had been. Mostly endless falling, losing Annabeth, and a heavy feeling of hopelessness and despair.

When the day finally arrived, Percy was sure it was never coming, and he was bursting with excitement.

"Percy. You've been close to exploding for days. What is it?" Percy grinned widely.

"Well now that you ask, Wise Girl, it is the anniversary gift I have for you." Annabeth raised an interested eyebrow.

"Is that so? And what would this gift be?" Percy gave a quivering sigh.

"I hate myself for saying this, but you should probably give me your gift first, seeing as you might be too... absorbed... with mine." Annabeth shot her husband a warning look.

"Perseus. Jackson. If you got me a sponge, none of the gods will be able to help you. And anyway, if I give you my gift first, you might forget to give me mine." A random idea popped into Percy's head. Slowly creeping towards her, the man smiled, the glint in his eyes quickly alerting Annabeth that she should run.

And that she did: She took off like a shot, running out of the apartment.

While the two chase each other, I think it might be a good time to explain where they live. It looks like a giant mansion, and while it has training rooms, a huge kitchen, a seemingly endless pantry, a dining room/ ballroom, and a multitude of simple guest rooms and suites, everyone had their own private apartment with its own small kitchen and dining room, as well as a main bedroom, a couple of extra bedrooms and two full bathrooms each. Long story short, it was an Olympus (Athena) designed complex thing for adult demigods to live in, as well as a safe house for any passing demigods, friendly monsters (Tyson), and the hunters.

Back to the Chase. (A/N: I'm a menace to society.) They had reached the training room when Percy had wrapped his arms around Annabeth, letting his hands slip back onto her stomach, tickling her. She laughed and tried to push him off, but he sat down on her legs and pushed her hands down on either side of her face. Both were breathing heavily from the running.

"Got you Wise Girl." Percy whispered. Annabeth looked up at him. She took a second, faking surrender, then pulled her legs apart and pushed upwards, dropping Percy onto the floor and reversing their positions.

"No, Seaweed Brain. I got you." She smirked in triumph and then leaned down to kiss him, always their final move. Whoever won would always kiss the other as a sign of... "I won, so there." The kiss was just starting up, when...

"Oh, gods! My eyes! Not again! No no no. Guys. Get. A. Room." Said poor Frank. The couple pulled apart sheepishly.

"Sorry, Frank." Percy said. Frank just shook his head and walked away. Annabeth rolled off of Percy and the latter stood up, extending a hand to his wife. She took it, and they made their way back to their apartment, chuckling the whole way.

Once inside their own private space, Percy pushed Annabeth up against the door, looking down into her eyes, pressed flush up against her.

"Now," he whispered in a tone only Annabeth would ever hear from him. "Where were we?" Annabeth smirked.

"Anniversary gifts." Percy backed away with a mock hurt expression. Annabeth patted him on the back.

"Later maybe. Now, considering neither of us can decide who gets whose gift first, let's just give them at the same time." Percy agreed and ran to get his gift.

When he sat down on the foot of the bed he shared with Annabeth, he became giddier than ever. Annabeth sat down on the mound of pillows with a box that was about the size of four stacked starfish.

"On three, okay?" Annabeth said, excitement lacing her voice. Percy nodded.

"One..." Annabeth.

"Two..." Percy.

"Three!" Together. They both unwrapped their gifts. Percy's was a little blue-and-gray box with a small bow. Undoing the bow, the string fell away, allowing Percy to access the contents.

"Oh my gods." The couple said simultaneously but with different tones entirely.

Percy was holding a pregnancy test in his hands. A positive pregnancy test.

"Wise Girl..." Annabeth nodded.

"Really really." Taking a real glance at the computer bag, she gave Percy a surprised look.

"You got me a computer?" However hard she was trying to hide it, Percy noticed the disappointment in her voice.

"Just... look at it." He asked. She nodded.

A pause.

A moment of shocked silence.

"How...?"

"A monster intern. I don't know how, but he somehow got his talons on your items and-"

"Items?" Percy nodded.

"Look at the bottom." Annabeth did. And then she started to cry.

Percy didn't always understand why Annabeth would cry, and this was certainly one of those times, but that never stopped him from trying to comfort her. Which is exactly why he stood up, walked over to her, and enveloped her in his arms. She held on to him like a lifeline and he returned the gesture. They stayed in that position for a long time.

"You mean more to me than anything in existence. I love you. So, so much." Annabeth whispered after a while.

"And I love you more than life itself." Percy whispered back.
