You felt numb.

From the neck down, you were paralyzed, either in exhaustion, fear, pain, or all of the above. You couldn't tell what time it was, nor if anyone was still in the house.

But you still tried to lift yourself up, the pain in your lower half intensifying the more you moved. And with a soft grunt, you stood all the way, your balance wavering.

You went to take a step out of the room and nearly collapsed, but you caught yourself on the wall before you could hit the ground.

"Sh-Shit..." You hissed, reaching into your pocket in hopes of finding your phone, and your fingers soon wrapped around the device, along with what felt like the business card Shotaro had given you earlier.

You pulled the two items out, dialed Shotaro's number with a tremoring hand, and waited.

It only took two rings for him to pick up the call. "Hello?"

"Hey...It's Yanni..." You spoke lowly.

"Oh, shit, hey." His voice immediately elevated in pitch once he realized it was you. "What's up? Are you okay?"

You gulped a little. "Are...Were you asleep?"

You heard Shotaro stretch on the other end. "Nah, but I was about to when you called. Why, what's going on?"

"I...need some help..." You spoke even lower.

"You need help?" Shotaro's tone of voice shifted – you figured, based on how his voice sounded now, that the shift may have been to concern. "With what?"

You hummed before gathering your words. "I'm lost; need a ride home..." You felt a sharp pain in your stomach, causing you to let out another hiss. "Do you-?"

"Share your location with me."

His response threw you off a bit, but you slowly nodded your head, taking your phone away from your ear. "Okay..."

After a few moments of tapping on your screen, you sent your location to Shotaro and held your phone back to your ear.

"Stay where you are, alright? I'm on my way." He told you before hanging up, leaving you to stagger out of the room, grabbing your backpack off the floor, in the process.

Shotaro alternated his glance between his phone screen and windshield, creeping down the street his device led him to.

The street was adequately lit, but as far as the road stretched, Shotaro couldn't find anyone outside – no house lights were on – the street nearly resembled a section of a ghost town.

This started to worry him, and he had half a mind to call you again to find out exactly where you were, but he was approaching a dead end.

However, a one-story flat stood at the very end of the street, and Shotaro could make out what appeared to be the figure of a girl lying on the edge of the lawn.

He took a single look at the clothes, and his car came to a screeching halt as he sprung out of the vehicle, instantly recognizing the girl in the grass as you.
