(i am actually thinking to change story's name ...)

---It was 6:15 PM. Mihir stood by the hotel gate, waiting for a taxi.

The evening snacks with the Dutt and Mishra families had been lively, filled with laughter and gentle teasing.

Both families had taken turns poking fun at Mihir and Ishani's formal eating habits, a byproduct of their army training.

Life in the armed forces wasn't just about discipline—it shaped every little aspect of their personalities.

Lost in his thoughts, Mihir was startled by Sanjay ji's voice.

"Aare, Mihir, you're going to camp too, right? Why not take Ishani along?"

Mihir's heart leapt. *Ride with Ishani?* His mind was already celebrating, but a nervous thought followed quickly—what if she refused? His worries vanished when Ishani nodded at her father's suggestion. *If only he knew what was going on in her mind.*

Soon, they were climbing into the taxi together.---**Inside the Taxi**

Mihir was fidgety. He wanted to talk but didn't know how to begin. What if he said something wrong? What if he made a poor impression? Before he could spiral further, Ishani's calm voice broke the silence.

"What's on your mind? Nervous about tomorrow?"

Her unexpected question startled Mihir, but he quickly recovered, unwilling to waste this chance.

"Yes... and you?"

**Ishani:** "Of course! Tell me, who isn't?"

**Mihir:** "Honestly, it's hard to believe *you* could be nervous."

**Ishani:** "Why not? I'm human too. The difference is, I don't like to show it. I suspect you're the same, aren't you?"

Mihir smiled. "Well, we're the same in some ways... but still so different. I'm amazed you remember me this well."

Ishani chuckled. "You remember me too, don't you? You weren't exactly easy to forget. How could I? You were one of the toughest competitors I've ever had."

Mihir felt his cheeks warm. "You weren't any less. You're... truly one of a kind."

He hesitated slightly, nervous at the weight of his words. Ishani, ever poised, handled the moment gracefully. Their conversation flowed effortlessly, a mix of shared memories and subtle admiration.

Mihir reflected on their contrasts. Despite being equally brilliant in their studies, they couldn't be more different.

Ishani was articulate and charismatic—a social butterfly who knew when to retreat into her introverted cocoon. Mihir, on the other hand, was the quintessential introvert. Reserved and contemplative, he admired how she balanced both sides of her personality with such ease.

Opposites attract, they say. But Mihir felt it was more than that.

Before he knew it, Ishani's voice pulled him out of his thoughts. "We're here."

The ride had felt too short. Mihir wished he could stretch time, just to stay in her company a little longer.

"Thanks for the ride, Mihir. It was nice talking to you," Ishani said as she stepped out.

"You're welcome, Ishani. I enjoyed talking to you after all these years," Mihir replied, savoring the way his name sounded when she said it.

Ishani smirked. "If you're referring to that pen incident, then I doubt that counts as a conversation. 'Is this your pen? You left it here.' And me replying, 'Thanks.' That's not exactly talking, Mihir."

Mihir scratched the back of his neck sheepishly. "Aare, but still..."

Her smile softened. "Don't worry. I'll make sure we stay in contact this time." His heart soared at her words. "I will too," he said, his voice filled with quiet determination.

"Well then, see you tomorrow at the ceremony," Ishani said, turning to leave.

"See you soon," Mihir replied, watching her walk away.

As they headed to their respective wings, one carried the happiness of having spent time with his long-time crush, and the other carried the satisfaction of knowing her feelings had been quietly but surely reciprocated.
