Blue was out of breath. His chest was clenching itself into a knot- quite literally- and he was developing a stitch on his side from running so long. Due to this, it was quite a relief when Green tripped over a large branch and had to stop for a second. Blue kicked him in the shin for him to regain his senses, and just for spite. After all, it was Green who wouldn't stop running after a while, leaving Blue trying to keep up.

Blue looked around, ignoring Green's complaints about all of their surroundings. They were in a patch of forest where every other square foot was occupied by trees, apart for one sandy area with a single nautilus shell and a few strands of seaweed lying around-

Shell, seaweed, and sand? In a forest.

As the realization dawned on Blue, he suddenly heard noises coming from behind him.

The crunching of leaves, branches, and the occasional thump or squelch of mud.

Green seemed to notice this too, as he shut up- again- and sat up straight to listen. The noises got closer. Blue took one step back-

CRUNCH went the large stick Green had tripped on. Beside him, Green swore- loudly- which didn't help.

A sea-green head dotted with white freckles rounded the corner. At first it looked at the nautilus shell, sighed, the was about to recede- then it stopped, and looked at Blue.

Eye contact. One of his worst fears, apparent as he just decided to casually stroll away, only to be yanked back by Green.

"It's been a long time since I've seen anyone else, you know. I'm not about to brutally murder you," The sea-green-and-white-freckles person said.

"Well- uh... we're- uh- like- kinda... I don't know? Wait hang on-" Green started stuttering.

"If you're trying to say we're lost without saying we're lost, you're obviously failing. By the way, we're lost," Blue said.

Sea-green-with-white-freckles smothered a giggle. "Well, in that case, you can stay with me for a while, or you can just wander around," she said. "By the way, I'm Ocean."

Still trying to get his choice of words done and ready, Green nodded.

Ocean turned around, and once both of her acquaintances couldn't see her face, her eyes glowed the same sea green as her body, and the nautilus shell scampered away.

Eyes normal again, she looked back. "Well, follow me, then," she said with a faint smile on her face.

After they left, the nautilus shell trailed after them.
