Absence

September 16th, 1955

It has been two days since I arrived at boarding school. I love it so far! We only have to walk a short distance to classes instead of a few blocks. Even though school ends later, I can take a nap right after school instead of walking back home first. I still have not met anybody, instead, I like to sit outside and eat my meals. It is peaceful on this campus, and I love it here. But I miss home, too. Although I know it has only been two days, I wonder: what have I missed? Mother is due January to have her baby, and she already has little Will to care for. Father is out on a business trip right now, he will be back in October. It makes me sad to know he is even farther away than Mother and Will and the baby. I hope all is well with them.

Until next time,

Michelle
