"Kid, wake up."
"Come on kid wake up."
Those words were faint to my ears, darkness was around me I was alone. I ran to find I was in black murky waters about knee high. The more I tried to run in the dark the more the waters became higher and higher. As I kept running I tripped not being able to see. As I collided with the black waters under me I felt my body sting in pain as the force of the waters pushed me under. As I gasped for air letting water make its way into my lungs I pulled myself up out of the dark waters below me. Wherever I was I had to get out of here. That voice was so faint, yet familiar. "Adele please wake up." I heard another voice call, I ran towards where I heard the voice. The murky waters still chasing beneath me, "Is she still breathing?" A voice questioned louder, I ran towards it not caring if the waters swallowed me whole. I needed to make it to whatever, whoever, was calling me. I felt the waters under me become lower about ankle width high. I became grateful, the sudden movement gave me more space to run. As I ran I felt something forming behind me. Something like water. I looked behind me to see a big wave of big black murky water, the water that was once beneath me, about knee high was now chasing behind me. As I screamed in fear, I saw as the wave hit me. I felt my body loosen as it floated in the wave that pulled me away. Everything was dark, I wasn't able to breathe and if I even tried my lungs would be filled with water. Drowning me, I felt the side of my forhead collide with something hard. My forehead began to pound as I felt it begin dripping blood. My ears began to buzz my body began to feel faint. When I felt the waves shaking me."Adele wake up!"
"Wake up Kid!"
My eyes began to open, allowing bits of sunlight in blocking the rest out. "There you go kid, it's okay." That voice, I forced my eyes to allow more sunlight in to see Harlow and Brooke hovering over my once lifeless body.
"Hey kid." Harlow said, "Where am I?" "We're at the pond." Brooke piped up, "What are we doing here?" "Hey that's what we should be askin you kid." Harlow said, Harlow was only 2 years older than me and when she called me kid it made me feel tiny and small compared to her, a part of me hated it and a part of me felt comfort from the name. I began to think, why was I here? I tried my best to think but nothing. I could only remember the girl I met, who looked like me with the book in her hand. Our story and the murky black waters. Brooke could see the look on my face, my brooding eyes squinting as the sun came intact with them. I felt something warm dripping down the side of my face. Harlows eyes widened. "Jocasta and her little click nearly beat you to death." I turned my body towards Harlow I winced in pain. "Easy now." "They all came at you all at once." Brook said, sorrow in her voice. "What?" I questioned, "You were jumped." Harlow said, making it clear what had happened.
My eyes widened, "From the looks of it you were riding your bike and fell then Jocasta got a hold of you." Harlow explained, "I don't remember what I was doing out here." I said, truthfully. Brooke's face softened, Harlows face had a look of anger, sorrow, guilt. I don't know what look it was I couldn't place my finger on it."They hit you real bad." Brooke said, as Harlow reached into her pocket. She pulled out a white rag that she put to my head. I winced in pain, "The more pressure the less blood will be spilled on the three of us." I nodded. "They hit you over and over." Brooke replied, her voice trembling. I looked over to her to see her eyes welling up. Brooke was one to care about people, she had trouble stepping in but when she did she couldn't help but break down even if she wasn't the one hurt. "With what?" "Stones." Harlow replied, as if she had been waiting for me to ask that. "Why?" Jocasta has hated me since 3rd grade, I'd never done anything to hurt her once I glanced at her, I think that's what set her off. I wasn't surprised that it was her I was just surprised that she would actually do something like this. Her 'click' had 5 girls in it 6 including her. Some days it would have different girls in it, 2 girls missing, 3 new girls added, it was a messy group. "I'm not sure kid, we wish we knew." Harlow said, pressing the rag harder to my head. It grew silent. "Why don't we get going back home and get you cleaned up, we can discuss this all more there when you're cleaned up and relaxed. Brooke suggested, I nodded, "Sounds good." Harlow said, handing me the rag to hold on my forehead as she stood up. Harlow helped me sit up. I began to feel dizzy, I looked to see the pond in front of us as Brooke was on the other side of it picking up my bike. My bike was named darcy, Darcy, because she darted through the wind when I took her for a ride she was a shiny like green bike.
I felt strong arms rap around me. Harlow picked me up, Harlow had a slim and lengthy build yet she had a tough hold. "Let's get you home." She said, as she carried me with her past an oak tree. Brooke by her side guiding my bike along with us by her side. That oak tree caught my eyes,
"Our story."
"What's it about?"
"That's for you to decide."I held the rag tighter to my head, I hung my head close to Harlows figure as I closed my eyes, the darkness greeting me again.
