When the vampiress had finally come down from her high, she returned to the cottage. Looking at Mihnea’s dead body, she just smirked. She was free.
Stepping over it, she took the chance to enter his bedroom, which she’d never been allowed to enter. Not that it mattered now, anyway, with the origin of the rule laying in his own blood. His room was way more stacked than any other room in the mansion, in which only the necessary furniture, sometimes not even that. On his desk, the only not messy part of the room, stood a small portrait of a man framed by roses that didn’t seem to wither. He looked extremely similar to Lacrimă with their snowy hair and crimson eyes. Next to the portrait laid a red envelope. Pale hands picked it up, and after a few minutes wasted on the messy font, she found it addressed to her ‘in case I die’ The envelope got torn in no time and a candle was lit up to help her decipher its content. It read as follows:‘My dear Lacrimă!
If you read this letter, that means I have passed away and am therefore unable to protect you anymore. You know you are a pureblooded vampire and therefore higher than any other creature on this planet, but that is not all. As one of the last members of the honorable Draculesti clan, you are a member of the creator’s family. Therefore you are blessed with the power to control people's minds. But, my tear , you are far too young to control this power. It will make it easier for these vile hunters to find you. In order to prevent that, you have to refrain from drinking human blood at any cost.
Do not attempt to look for your mother. She only wants you to better her standing in vampire society.
There is only one person able to help you now, and that is my father, the other surviving member of our family. His name is Vlad Draculesti and he is the most powerful vampire alive. Solely he will be able to protect you. Go look for him, he lives in a castle near Paris. Just follow the scent of roses.
Avoid these evil humans at all cost as there are no creatures as backstabbing as them. Travel at night. Do not enter big towns.PS: The hair pin in my drawer is a gift from him to me, in case I ever had a daughter. Take it, it’s yours now.
And, my tear, don’t you dare disobey me. I will know and you will regret it.Lacrimă fell onto a chair. She had another family member she had never been told about. Should she follow her father’s orders that had done nothing but torture her in the past years? Would she give up her newly obtained freedom in order for it to be taken away somewhere else? For eternity, this time. And if she decided to give into the urge to disobey, where should she go? Even if she went to the other end of the world, she had no doubt her father’s spirit would find her to drive her towards insanity until she obeyed. To add to her misery, the vampiress knew she could under no circumstances stay at this place, where corpses could be found everywhere. The hunters’ organisation would surely be alarmed if their men did not return, ever. Still, she had unknowingly disobeyed already. She had drunk human blood. She had only tasted it on these men, but in this short time, she had become utterly addicted to its taste. It had filled her body with strength she had never had before. It had made her feel truly alive. Avoiding this taste was out of the question. Her father’s spirit raged already, she could feel it.
So, what should she do?
