» chapter seven: midnight «

Winnie rolled into the Cameron's home closing in on midnight. Abandoning her bike on the lawn, she snuck around back, tapping lightly on the door. She had told Sarah that she was coming and expected her to be there waiting.

When the door swung open, however, a different Cameron child answered. "You know, I don't understand how you don't just have a key at this point," Rafe scoffed, shaking his head.

Winnie wouldn't lie, she had tried. Sarah had been all for it, lending her the key to copy. Ward, however, hadn't been all too happy when he found out that she had made a key to their house, telling her mother who was quick to confiscate it.

The girl rolled her eyes before pushing past him into the house. "Oh, I'm sure you'd like that, wouldn't you?"

Rafe smirked, looking her up and down as he closed the door behind her, "Maybe I would."

Winnie stopped at the kitchen bench and turned to face him. She could see the way he was looking at her - it was the way someone looked at something they craved that they knew they couldn't have.

As he walked over he slowed when he got to the bench, trailing his finger over the marble before stopping about a metre away from her. "What're you doing here so late, Winona?"
