As Midoriya and I walked through the building, he told me about the boy bullying him.
Apparently his name was Katsuki Bakugo, and they used to be childhood friends. But once he developed his quirk and Midoriya didn't, he began to bully Midoriya for being quirkless. It's been that way since they were kids, and Midoriya was never able to stand up for himself.
Damn, what a complete asshole...
"I'm really sorry you had to go through all that," I told him, "This honestly makes me even more pissed off at him..."
"I'm alright," he replied, "I try not to listen to him..."
We then noticed a group of koi fish pecking at something.
It was Midoriya's journal.
"My dreams have turned into fish food..." he said quietly to himself.
He took the journal out of the water and looked at it.
It looked as if he was going to cry again...
That's when I placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey, don't give up!" I told him, "Don't let something like being quirkless get you down! We'll figure something out!"
"Yeah, I guess so..." he said in a sad tone.
It didn't seem to be enough to cheer him up, but I wasn't going to give up on him.
"Hey, how about this," I began, "I can walk you home! We can talk more on the way!"
He gave me a worried look.
"But what about you? Wouldn't your parents worry?"
"It's fine, my dad can wait," I reassured him, "I want to make sure you're safe before you get back!"
He looked down at his journal, then he looked back at me and smiled.
"Okay!"
~~~
As we went through the streets, we talked about our favorite heroes.
His favorite hero was All Might, which somewhat coincidental if you thought about it.
Midoriya knew a lot about him, and he seemed to really want to be like him.
This wasn't really the first time I heard someone talk about my dad like this, but for some reason, I didn't mind his rambling.
In fact, I think I kinda liked it!
Suddenly, we reached a tunnel underneath a bridge.
He was showing me his All Might impression, when suddenly, I heard something...
Then, we looked behind us to find what looked like a giant sludge monster.
But it wasn't a sludge monster, it was a villain with a sludge quirk.
"One of you will make a perfect skin suit for me to hide in!" it said as it towered over us.
Soon, it lunged out at us as we tried to run away.
I was able to get a distance from it, but Midoriya wasn't so lucky.
"Fumei!"
The monster had caught him.
It was entering his mouth and nose as he struggled to pull it off.
But me, I was frozen in fear.
I know I just met Midoriya, but I already felt that we were becoming good friends.
