begin.

"what the heck is even going on anymore," ln muttered as she trudged up the stairs to her room. she knew what was going on - her brother's friend got kicked out of his house and came to spend the night at theirs. luckily, the random girl had left already, but it still wasn't an ideal night for ln. she didn't like to be around her brother's friends, so she usually kept to herself in her room on these types of nights.

after entering her room and gently closing the door, she turned to her full-length mirror, and removed the splint from her nose, and peeling back both bandaids that hugged her face. her skin was pristine and unbroken, not a single scar, cut, or bruise in sight.

the girl tossed the bandages into the garbage, before stripping off her school uniform and changing into something more comfortable. after, she shuffled over to the oaken jewelry box that rested on her dresser. opening the invaluable treasure chest up, she pulled out a small bottle of pills, taking two of them into her palm, closing the bottle, and swallowing them. her eyes fell onto the clock that lived on the same dresser, which read 4:02 pm. perhaps it was too early to be taking soporifics, but it hardly mattered anyway.

a sound that resembled a firework sent ln jolting out of her slumber with a soul-shocking scream of terror. her own scream terrified her, her hands flew to cover her mouth as she scrambled out of her bed, tripping over her sheets. she fell hard, nearly face planting into the floor in her desperate attempt to escape, which failed ever so pitifully.

as ln struggled to stand, her brother hurriedly appearing by her side, pulling her up out of her tangled mess of sheets.

"it's okay, calm down," he murmured. not again.

"you didn't hear that noise?" ln sobbed. "someone is in here!"

"no, you were dreaming again. did you take something before you slept?"

"i don't know." tears streaked her cheeks, which she wiped away with her sleeve. "i don't remember. shouldn't we check the locks?"

"don't take medicine to help you sleep," he reminded. "they make your dreams more vivid and realistic."

"i know, whatever. what time is it?"

"like five-thirty something. i dunno."

ln pulled away from sohjin. "can you drive me to school tomorrow? i don't want to go by myself."

"i can't, but i can ask ryo. i don't think he's doing anything t—"

"no, i don't like him. nevermind, it's fine. when is dad coming home?" yn shook her head.

"tomorrow," sohjin replied. "well, tonight, since it's morning."

"okay."

ln decided not to go back to sleep since she wasn't tired anymore and only had just short of two hours before she needed to leave for school. sohjin decided to call one of his other friends, opal, to drive yn to school, which pleasantly surprised ln.

"good morning, girl. what's up?" opal greeted as ln opened the passenger door and slipped inside the small red car.

"not much."

"i got you an iced coffee~ a queen needs a pick me up every once in a while, yeah?" opal smiled, handing ln the drink.

"thanks."

opal backed out of the driveway. it should have only been a few minutes worth of driving, but traffic was heavy due to the aftermath of a car crash.

"hun, do me a favour and show that silver car your pretty middle finger."
