Chapter 4

As you were walking home, you were thinking about how weird this day was. A random guy bumping his cart into your car who turned out to be your neighbor right across from you. This was a lot to process in one day. The fact he came to help you too, instead of running away like most people would. Inviting you over to his house too and making you food. He's too nice for his own good.

You arrive at your doorstep, quickly going inside your house.

"I'm home." you say to nobody in particular, just because you wanted to.


You take off your shoes and hang up your coat. As you're hanging up your coat, you see a white paper hanging out of your pocket. You didn't put that there, did you? You take the paper out and un-crumble it. On the paper is a number with Oliver's name at the bottom. You don't recall him giving you a paper. He must've snuck it in there.

You take out your phone and dial his number in so you can send him a text.

[5:04PM] You: Hey, Oliver! It's me, Y/N. I got your number so I decided to send you a text.

As you send your message, you wonder why he didn't just ask for it instead. You would've gave it to him. A few seconds later, you get a reply.

[5:05PM] Oliver: Hi, Y/N! Glad you got my number. :)

[5:05PM] You: Yeah, as you probably know, I just moved here. So, it's nice to get to know some of your neighbors, yeah?

You suddenly remember the fact that Oliver is the only neighbor you know and you haven't met anyone else.

Damn.

[5:06PM] Oliver: Yeah, I get what you mean. I would want to know the people I'm living next to, too.

[5:06PM] You: Yeah.

[5:06PM] Oliver: Alright, I'm gonna go now. Don't wanna take up all your time. Bye! :)

[5:07PM] You: Cya!


You shut off your phone, putting it back into your pocket. You look outside and see it's still bright. There's still time to spend. But what should you do? You think about meeting your other neighbors, but you're too socially drained to talk to people after hanging out with Oliver. You sigh, making your way over to the kitchen. You grab [favorite snack] and head up into your room.

You lay on your bed, taking out your laptop. You open it up putting on some random movie while opening up your [favorite snack]. It's not like you got anything better to do, anyway.

Well, you do need a job to pay bills. You should probably start looking for some tomorrow.

[Oliver's POV]

I stare out the window, thinking of them. Thinking of EVERYTHING that happened today.

First, I mess up their car with my stupid cart. Now I find out we're neighbors! How embarrassing could this get! I'm lucky they didn't have me pay for the damages, that would be expensive. I paid for their groceries, though. It wouldn't feel right to just leave them there without doing something. The guilt would take over me!

I sigh. Whatever, it's in the past now. I'll put this behind me and hope I don't embarrass myself more than I already did. I walk over to my fridge and grab a drink so I can sit down and chill. I got nothing else to do today.

As I sit down on my couch, my dog, Budsy came over to me with her tail wagging.

"Hey, Budsy." I say as I bend down to pet her. "How are you today?"

She lets out a bark as I continue to pet her.

"Yeah, me too, Budsy."

Budsy let out another bark, standing on her hind legs.

"What do you want, Budsy?" I ask, not sure what she wants. Maybe she's hungry?

Budsy goes back down on her four feet, going to get something. A few seconds later, she comes back with her leash in her mouth.

"Oh! You want to go on a walk?" She barks in response. "Alright, let's go."

I slide her leash on her neck and start heading outside.

[Y/N's POV]

While I'm snacking down while watching my movie, I start to hear barking outside.

I get off my bed and look outside my window to see the dog who's barking. That's when I see Oliver walking his dog, Budsy!

Aw, how cute.

You watch Oliver walk his dog down the sidewalk as they get out of your view.

Maybe you should get yourself a dog.

You go back into your bed, un-pausing the movie so you can pass time. Maybe tomorrow you'll hang out with him again
