Light flooded into the bedroom, sensing streaks of light across the walls as it filtered through the curtains. Caitlyn let out a soft groan as she opened her eyes, feeling her brain pounding against her skull. She sat up and put her head in her hands, trying to remember what had happened. The night before was a blur as she strained to grasp her memories.
Why did you kiss me?!
The words battered around her mind suddenly, and she let out a soft gasp.
"Oh, god..." she muttered, standing up and grabbing the wall for support as she stumbled. She stepped out of her bedroom and hurried down the hallway before bursting into Thomas' bedroom. He sat in his bed with his head in his hands. He looked up suddenly and bit his lip, looking back down at his lap.
"I'm so sorry," Caitlyn said suddenly. "I didn't mean any of it..." Thomas looked back at her and sighed softly, scooting to the side and patting the mattress beside him. Caitlyn's breath lodged in her throat as she walked forward and sat beside him. She hugged her knees gently to her chest and stared down at the mattress intently.
"How are you feeling today?" Thomas asked, watching her carefully.
"Like my head was hit by a freight train," she muttered, closing her eyes. "I can't really remember anything... all I remember is shouting at you." She turned and looked at him and brushed her thumb over his bruised cheek. "And hurting you. I'm so sorry. I don't know what came over me."
"I'm just glad you listened to my self-defense training," he laughed lightly, running his hand over his ribs. "You don't have to apologize... you were drugged. Thymós is nasty..."
"What is it exactly?"
"Depp created it to inflict anger on its victims. It causes irrational anger and outbursts, like last night."
"I still feel like such an idiot..." she mumbled.
"You weren't the only one. Dylan and I were drugged, too. The only difference is that he still might try to kill me when he wakes up today..."
"Oh my god... did I say it in front of him?" She gasped, covering her mouth. Thomas laughed lightly and nodded in response.
"Things got pretty heated," he admitted, fiddling with his fingers. "I'm sorry if I put you in an uncomfortable position yesterday... maybe I shouldn't have kissed you, given the fact that you only got out of a relationship over a month ago..."
"Don't apologize. Really. I kissed you first... I think the only reason I lashed out last night is because I was insecure."
"About what?" He asked, taking her hand in his own. She sighed and looked up at him, biting her lip lightly.
"The last guy I fell for never even loved me. He used me and tried to kill me. I think I was afraid that maybe you'd use me too... that maybe I'm unlovable." Thomas sighed and pulled Caitlyn into a tight hug.
"That's not true. I promise that I'm not just using you. I really like you. You're the most amazing woman I've ever met. I've never met anyone like you... and you're definitely not unlovable." Caitlyn sighed and rested against his chest as he held her in his arms.
"I really like you, Thomas," she muttered. She let out a deep breath and closed her eyes. "What am I going to tell my brother?" She groaned. Thomas laughed lightly and shook his head.
