The sun radiated heat as it sat prominently over the city. Caitlyn sat silently on a blanket in the small park, reading her book quietly as she tried to escape her own mind. Everything was wrong and she could feel her anxiety creeping in, attempting to crush her chest. She put her book to the side and closed her eyes tightly, resting her head in her hands as she tried to ground herself.

"Are you alright?" A sudden voice spoke out. Caitlyn looked up quickly, pausing when she saw the man in front of her. His hazel eyes seemed to stare straight through her as she analyzed his appearance. His brown hair brushed the shoulders of his leather jacket and his tan face held a soft hint of a smirk on his parted lips. Her eyes gazed over his jawline before finally landing once again on his leather jacket.

"I'm fine," she muttered softly. "Are you?" She asked suddenly. He raised his eyebrows at her in amusement before sitting beside her on the small blanket.

"Why wouldn't I be?" He laughed.

"You're wearing a leather jacket in hundred-degree weather... you have to be incredibly hot." The man smirked at her for a moment and she felt her cheeks burn red as she realized what she had said.

"You're right," he said, pulling it off to reveal a simple t-shirt. Caitlyn couldn't help but stare at the tight sleeves that hugged his toned biceps. "I am a little hot." Caitlyn felt herself nodding in agreement, trying to shake the reaction away before he noticed. "I'm Nick, by the way," he said, offering a hand to her.

"Caitlyn," she responded softly, taking his hand and feeling sparks ignite in her chest as his hand gripped hers tightly.

"It's nice to meet you, Caitlyn," he smiled, pulling his hand away.

"Can I ask you a question?" She asked, hugging her knees to her chest. He just nodded silently in response, staring back at her. "Why, uhm. Well... Why are you talking to me?" She felt panic rise in her chest as she realized how that sounded. "I-I mean, not that I don't want you to talk to me, I'm just not sure why you chose to come over and talk to me of all people, uhm. I'm glad you're talking to me- god I'm awkward," she mumbled lightly, staring down at the blanket with wide eyes. Nick let out a comforting laugh, causing her to glance up and peek out from the veil of her hair.

"Honestly... I just saw a pretty girl who looked a little upset. I wanted to make sure you were okay... and, admittedly, I thought you were too pretty not to talk to." Caitlyn felt her cheeks burning softly as she smiled at him. "Can I take you out to dinner?" He asked suddenly. Caitlyn's smile faltered for a moment as she thought of her brother. The last time she had gone on a date, he had been so protective of her. He always warned her to check up on any guys that wanted to go out with her and make sure they were safe.

She shook the thought away suddenly and smiled at Nick.

"You're not a murderer or something, right?" She asked softly. He let out a soft laugh as his eyebrows raised in amusement. "I'm kidding," she said suddenly. "Of course, I'll go to dinner with you..."

~~~
A blaring sound cut through the darkness as Caitlyn groaned softly and pulled the covers over her head. Her dreams faded away as Nick silenced their alarm and wrapped his arms tightly around her waist.
"Baby," he muttered, his voice deep from sleeping. Caitlyn let out another groan and turned to face away from him as he attempted to shake her awake. He let out a soft chuckle and shook her again. "Baby, it's time to wake up. We should get up for work."
"I don't want to," she groaned, flipping around and snuggling into his chest.
"I don't think you want to be late for your first day, do you?" He asked, kissing her forehead. She just groaned again softly. "Baby," he complained softly. Her eyes fluttered open and she sighed softly. "Why don't we go shower? It'll help you wake up."
