The morning following their first flying lesson, Malfoy had been in an extraordinarily good mood, practically beaming by Malfoy standards.
The previous night, while Elaine was trying to study by the window that peered into the depths of the Great Lake, he wouldn't shut up to his little group of cronies about how Potter was going to be expelled all because of him. The pride he usually radiated amplified by a disturbing extent as he simply breathed. No doubt, the cause of his good mood was getting Harry into trouble during the flying class.
At the moment though, Cael and her were walking over to the great hall for breakfast behind Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle. Elaine and Cael consistently had a habit of waking up a bit later while Alex and Fiona were both early risers, which resulted in them arriving in two different pairs for breakfast at times. Unfortunately, it seemed Malfoy had also gotten a long and well-rested sleep after antagonizing Harry, resulting in them walking towards the great hall at the same time.
"You better tell your sister that her boyfriend's going to be long gone soon, Romanov!" He smirked, victoriously. "Oh wait, you can't. You're not even on talking terms! It seems it'll just be a nice surprise."
Elaine rolled her eyes, a habit she had been prone to far too much after arriving at Hogwarts. "As much as I'd love to deliver the message, your highness. As you said, I really cannot, given certain circumstances! How unfortunate." Her tone was dripping with sarcasm.
Cael laughed from her right side, "I apologize for her sass, your majesty. Worry not, I also make for an apt message carrier!~" Cael dramatically placed a hand on his puffed out chest, acting heroic.
Malfoy glared at them before surprisingly smirking and playing along. "That won't be necessary, Toleson. Have fun being my useless slaves."
"Is that not already their job?" Cael raised an eyebrow, pointing toward Crabbe and Goyle, rare sincerity shining in his eyes.
Malfoy sneered, "They'll show you useless one day, Toleson. You're lucky I'd rather not tarnish the day that Potter's going to get expelled. Today's a day of celebration, after all. Watch your back though."
Elaine crossed her arms with an amused simper, "Yeah sure, Malfoy."
He glared at Elaine, "I mean it, Romanov."
"I'm sure you do," She sighed, "When do you not?" She pivoted on her heel to face the platinum-blonde boy and bowed at the entryway to the great hall. "For you, oh so great and mighty ruler, since we are such good besties." She grinned sarcastically, mockingly.
Cael snickered from next to her, joining in to the bow while Malfoy snarled and walked away, clearly done with their mockery. He headed straight toward the Gryffindor table. Cael and Elaine made their way toward the Slytherin one and slipped into their seats.
Alex's face was scrunched. "What the hell was that bowing bullshit at the entrance?"
Cael burst out into laughter. "Oh it was bloody gold, on the way over Elaine were mocking him as royalty and I had to join in, you know? We were just finishing up the joke."
Fiona giggled as Alex downed her goblet of apple juice like a shot. "Lucky it didn't boost his ego even higher."
Elaine huffed in amusement into the back of her hand, "Yeah I was a liiittle worried it might backfire, but it seemed to work out."
Fiona's giggles came to an end and she started to shake Elaine's arm lightly. "Actually," she began in a quiet voice, "I do think Cassidy was watching you that whole time..."
