Chapter edited 11/23/2022———
A troll had entered the bathroom, joining her and Hermione with roaring stomps. She stared at the creature, only just able to fathom the fact that they somehow ended up in this situation.
Elaine distinctly heard the sound of the door closing and locking behind the beast. The sound immediately alarmed her, her first question being why the door would lock on its own, and the second being how they were going to survive being locked in with this beast. She desperately hoped she misheard.
Panic filled her veins and her eyes darted around the space around them, searching for anything they could use to protect themselves. Her eyes settled back on the troll and where he stood, blocking the way to the entrance. She stared at the club in his hand fearfully.
She considered trying to get past it to unlock the door with alohomora, but she was doubtful she could get past it without getting crushed. There was really only one option left, she reached into her right pocket and steadied her grip on her wand. They had to use magic to deter the troll. She wasn't quite sure what spells to use though.
Her eyes flitted over towards Hermione, who was desperately pressing herself into the back wall. Judging from the shaking girl's petrified expression, she figured she wouldn't be any help brainstorming spells. Even if Hermione was a Gryffindor, this was terrifying, and her emotions were already all in disarray from her earlier crying. Elaine couldn't really blame her for not exemplifying bravery.
The troll's bulky body slowly sauntered in, his club banging into the sinks and breaking them as he trudged onward. Hermione screamed loudly and Elaine flinched, internal panic growing by the second.
She pulled her wand out and kept it at her side, worried that if she pointed it at the troll it would trigger it to act faster. She desperately tried to think of a spell to use— anything that would get the troll away from them. He was getting too close. She had to knock him back. There was a spell for that, wasn't there?
She raised her wand and pointed it at the towering figure, "FLIPENDO!"
As the spell connected, the troll was knocked back into the entrance wall of the bathroom, severely cracking it, but not quite demolishing it in full. She heard a familiar scream from outside the door as the troll crashed against the wall. The door flew open right after, Harry and Ron rushing in.
"Hermione! Are you okay?— Elaine?" Harry blinked in surprise.
"We're fine for now," Elaine hurriedly grabbed Hermione's arm and pulled her up from where she slipped to the floor in a daze, "Hurry though! We have to do something. That spell isn't going to keep him down. It was just a knockback spell."
The troll got up, true to her word, and rather quickly too. He was already making his way back over to them, seething.
Elaine's eyes widened as she stumbled back. She didn't think he'd recover that fast.
"Run in different directions! Confuse it!" Harry shouted out, dashing in one direction and dragging Hermione along while Ron ran in another. Elaine also darted to one of the walls, which was pretty hard given the space they had to work with. The troll's eyes remained on her, betraying the grudge it held against her for her efforts.
"Hit it! Do something! He's distracted with me!" Elaine called out, nervously trying to think of a way out.
Ron threw a metal pipe at the troll's shoulder. It didn't even flinch. However, it did pause, growling for a second. It did not turn away from Elaine still.
Elaine nearly yelped as she saw another figure dart forward. It was Harry. He had jumped on the troll's back and had his arms wrapped around his neck, and his wand digging up into one of the troll's nostrils. The troll howled in pain and reeled back, flailing about and as a result waving his club around carelessly. Harry was hanging on for dear life.
