AURIELLE
"Salvador" Our teacher called him. "Ma'am?" his cold and rough voice responded.
I bit my lower lip as my breathing hitched. My focus to our lesson slipped away as my pulse speed up.
You're a great distraction, Salvador.
"Oi" a voice whispered as I felt a sharp pain in my head. I turned and saw my bestfriend, Keziah Aguilar. "You're drooling again"
I gulped the lump in my throat, "No, I'm not" I remarked, clearing my throat.
"When will you stop pretending?" My eyes were enlightened by confusion that she sparked.
"What?"
"When will you stop pretending he's still alive?"
Her concerned voice woke up my reverie making me conscious of the same dream that visits me every night.
My hands shook as I closed my eyes, drowning myself into the memory of my love once more.
I felt my body shook as tears streamed down my rosy cheeks.
Is loving you a curse?
A curse in which I cannot escape from?
A curse that no matter how much you reject my love, it makes me love you more?
"Buenaventura, you can't love me" the sound of his voice being unusually low and soft send goosebumps in me.
"Maybe you're just confuse, you'll get over it" he continued from where he was sitting across me.
"But I haven't!" I retorted,
"I love you and I- myself don't know how or why but I just do, alright?" My voice breaking as I glance at him.
His gaze was calculating but there was a hint of something else, "You'll end up getting hurt, do you understand that?" He finally asked.
I bit my lower lip, "Yes, but I still love you" I echoed, hugging my legs.
My breathing hitched as I felt warm hands touch my shoulders.
He knelt down as his shaky hands grabbed my chin and forced me to look at his eyes, cold but possessive.
He drew closer as I felt his warm breath hit my cheeks. I gulped as my heart beat faster than anything before.
"You better not regret this" he whispered, his tone low and full of longing.
"I love you" I responded in a shaky breath and I saw his eyes grew darker. "I don't" he said and my heart dropped before I could even think.
I tried to moved my face but his hands cupped my cheek.
"But I think I can"
Then, finally, he closed the distance as he pressed his lips upon mine sealing the start of our twisted romance.
"Mom, Mommy" it echoed in my ears as I felt small hands shake my body.
I groaned while fluttering my eyes open, "What is it, sweetie pie?" I asked my son, Shawn while my eyes are still closed.
"I'm going to be late for school" he answered making my eyes shot up. I groaned once again, remembering that today is Monday.
"Well, good morning" I greeted Shawn when I fully sat up, he hugged me and I heard him return the greeting in muffled voice.
The feeling of my son, my favorite person in my arms cleared the feeling of annoyance that sprouted in my chest when my rest ended.
RANDAVE
I gulped down the last cup of alcohol. My eyelids fell heavy as I felt my head whirl around.
Is it terrible to drink when the sun has just rise?
The words of the stranger last night rang in my ears like an upbeat tune. "Whash ishhh doon keeyn nott beeee aandoon, whasss nonsssseensssee is dassshhh?" I mubled under my breath.
Of course it can be undone, there's nothing in this world that's permanent, remember?
AURIELLE
"Ringgggg-Ringggg" I placed my phone in my ear. "Aurielle, have you heard the news?" Keziah asked making my eyebrow shot up.
"What news?" I asked.
"Francine's case is renewed"
My mind stopped working as I processed her words. "What?" I blurted out. "Yes, apparently there was a witness"
"R-really?" I confirmed.
"Yes,......" she answered but I was no longer listening.
My knees gave out as I sobbed softly.
Finally, my sister is gonna get the justice she deserves.
KEZIAH
"Where is he?" I stood up as I heard Aurielle asked while she's approching me. "This way" I instructed towards the interrogation room.
"How is that he's only coming to the police now?" Keziah already explained it to the Aurielle on the phone but guessing that the shock must have stopped her from listening, she explained again.
"He's a foreigner, the day after Francine died was the day they left. When they visited again which was a week ago was the only the time they realized that he's actually a sole witness to the case" Aurielle nodded in understanding.
The two stopped infront of the door, Keziah knocked on the door as the latter braced herself.
As the two stepped into the room, a white guy with blonde hair looked at them. "Hello" his heavy Scottish accent greeted her. Aurielle nodded in return,
"So, Jaestin Tailor this Aurielle Buenaventura, the sister of Francine" Keziah introduced her,
"Oh, I am truly sorry about your sister" said Jaestin devastatingly.
Aurielle nodded and with Keziah, they sat down infront of Jaestin, "I take it that it is time for me to speak" Keziah nodded answering his question.
"It was very hot that night which is why I decided to take a walk outside. That is when it happened, as I made my around the porch of where we were staying, I saw the silhoutte of a tall man"
Aurielle took a sharp intake of breath as Keizah held her hand. "He was looking around as he came out of the building then as if someone was following him, he ran, as fast as he could. As he passed in front of me, I saw that he was wearing a blue hoodie with black trousers" Jaestin said before looking straight at Aurielle,
"I am sorry that is all I know" Aurielle who was now on the verge of tears shook her head,
"You don't have to apologize" She dismissed, "You've been a really great help"
"Thank you" Keziah said the unspoken message Aurielle was trying to convey before she burst into tears.
"There is no need, I am only doing what anyone else would do" Keziah smiled at the man as she hugged her bestfriend.
"If I may....?" She nodded and watch as Jaestin closed the door as he left.
"She's finally getting justice" Aurielle croaked, "Yes, Aurielle, it's finally happening" Keziah responded, her hand soothing her back.
"We're finally going to catch that bastard"
