LUCY

When I sat across him in that booth, when destiny made our paths cross that day. I'd never have thought that this was where we'd be now.

As the dragon slayer in question attempted to clamber through my conveniently open window once again, a cool breeze tickling his distinctly pink hair and a cheeky grin plastered on his face, I sighed heavily and placed a hand on the sliding window, ramming it into his foot repeatedly. "Natsu! Go away! It's the middle of the night, get some sleep!" I pleaded, freezing on the spot at the burning contact as he placed his hand over mine.

"Luce, please." I looked behind him; no hovering Happy. I hadn't checked before in my rush - how did he get up here? Why was he without his partner? "Let me in already." He whinged. My eyes darted between his little pouty face and the vacant, empty skies where I kept expecting an exceed to emerge from. My hands timidly returned to my sides as he jumped down and immediately began to walk towards my bedroom.

"Hey, Natsu," I called softly. He stopped in his tracks but didn't turn around, glancing fleetingly over his shoulder. "where's Happy?" I presumed he had the climbing skills to scale the wall, but where was his friend he never went anywhere without? The lost magic mage shrugged simply and disappeared into the bedroom, me following after him, a little lost myself. "What does that mean?"

"I don't go everywhere with him." Natsu responded, diving under my sheets.

"Yes you do." I said with a laugh. "You guys are like brothers - no, inseparable twins."

"Not any more." He turned away from me once more. I rolled my eyes, it seemed like they'd fallen out.

"Natsu," I said in a motherly way, sitting down on my bed. "look this way." He wouldn't. I stood up and walked around to the other side, but he just turned the other way. I sighed, it was no use. "Okay," I smiled, reminding myself why I was doing this. "Natsu, can I just..." I struggled to string together a sentence which wouldn't end up mortifying myself. "get in here?" I wriggled my way in so I was in front of him, and when he went to turn away, I pulled him back by the waist. I suddenly cringed away at my actions, but again I reminded myself why I was doing this and persevered.

"Natsu," I paused. "I just want you to know that... if you're having a... problem, or something that you don't want to talk to anyone about, you can tell me. I'm here to support you, alright? We're not just guild-mates, or teammates, we're friends. Best friends actually. And that means I can help you with anything-"

I was interrupted by his arms snaking around my waist and pulling me into him, almost crushing me.

"Thank you," he murmured, smiling into my shoulder where his lips had ended up. I pulled back suddenly, to take a breath. He didn't even utter a sorry to that. I didn't mind though. "Lucy." There was a comfortable silence, where his eyes were closed and I couldn't tell if he was drifting off or not.

"Natsu?"

I'd decided to tell him what was on my mind. What had been on my mind for ages now. It seemed... right. "Yeah?"

"You remember... the day we met?" He nodded against me. I took that opportunity to continue. "I... I didn't know what I was feeling then, this warm... tingly feeling." I tried to explain. I didn't know if he understood, but I continued. "But know I now. It's something even more than friendship. From day one, I just... I felt this bond between us."

"Me too." He mumbled almost incoherently.

"Really?" I muttered, shocked.

"Yeah." I smiled, hugging him tighter. "Luce?" I opened my eyes to lock gazes with his dreamy ones. "Do you know what this feeling is?" I shook my head, stifling a giggle.

"No, I don't."

"Neither. But it's good, so never let it go away, okay?" My smile grew so wide that I embraced him as closely as possible, the amazing feeling spreading everywhere.

"I won't."
