NATSU

"Why did you grow your hair out long?" I crossed my legs and put them up on the table as I sat down across from her at a table in the guild. There was a long pause.

"Wendy said it would look nice, back before you left. I don't think she remembers but I love it when my friends compliment me." Lucy admitted, cheeks burning. I gave her a quizzical look.

"So what, should I call you cute and stuff more often?" I asked blatantly. Lucy never discussed what makes her happy, and I would do anything to make my friends happy.

"Wha-what? Natsu..." she suddenly covered her mouth, blushing like mad. I rolled my eyes, see this was why I didn't compliment her a lot. "you don't have to..." she looked away, clearly embarrassed. I sighed under my breath. I guess I could have a little fun with it, it was kinda cute seeing her blush and all. Like a little sister, or a kitten cute.

"Actually I could list some words I use to describe you," I said, hands behind my head. Then, I began to count on my fingers. "cute. Obviously. Kind, gentle, a bit hot-headed but that's fine because honestly it makes you even cuter. Kinda smart, like when you read books and stuff. Oh, and when you write. You shouldn't be embarrassed about all that-"

"Natsu! Stop!" She squeaked, burying her face in her hands to control her blush. I chuckled, it was funny seeing her embarrassed. I didn't get as good reactions from other friends, like Erza. Erza just kept a poker face all the time, or beat me up.

"You're so motherly to little kids, like Asuka. You are..." I racked my brain for another word, because I didn't want to say beautiful. She'd just start insulting herself again, and I hated that.

"I get it. I get it Natsu stop." She deadpanned in a deadly tone and I fell silent. "Don't just throw around so many compliments to your friends like that!" She said almost condescendingly, like she was my teacher. "It gives the wrong impression..." she whispered almost inaudibly. Thank you, enhanced dragon hearing.

"I was just complimenting you!" I laughed. "You said you wanted that." I reminded her. There was a still silence, in which my eyes roamed the room, and landed back on her every now and again. She revealed her face. It was still red.

"Mavis, Natsu. Next time leave it at one word, alright?" She said with a smile. I held out my hand. We did our fist-bump-high-five thing.

"Alright." I agreed, grinning cheekily.
