I wish I could say the flight to my "beloved" hometown was just as pleasant as being the youngest person ever inducted into the grand ole opry.
It wasn't.
Just my luck I got stuck next to some lady and her newborn who wouldn't shut its trap the entire goddamn time.
To preserve my own sanity I had to beg the air hostess to be moved to a different seat.
Luckily I threw some of my country boy charm and my superstar status at her and 5 minutes later I had a new seat in first class.
I spent the rest of the flight ordering a couple Coke vodkas and mentally forming a plan on how the hell I was gonna get back to LA because this homecoming crap is crazy.
I know you usually hear country artists sing about how much they love their hometown but not this cowboy.
Not at all.
I've never considered this home.
I was never really close with my family, especially my parents for reasons I don't wanna think about , so my brother Kyle is the only real family I have here in Kentucky.
I love that rascal.
As I let my thoughts drift off I see a driver holding a paper with my name on it standing in front of a pickup truck but i as I look closer I realize it's Kyle himself!!
"Well if it isn't the great Hunter Wright!!"
"In the flesh haha"
I engulf my little brother in an enormous hug as I ruffle his hair a bit.
"Awe cmon I tried to make it look nice for the occasion!"
"Too bad little brother! What are ya doin here anyways?"
"Wow is that how ya greet someone ya love?"
"You're right I'm sorry but really how'd ya know I was gonna be here??"
"Your manager called me and let me know. He thought it would be a good idea for you to see a familiar face, you know comin back home after 3 years and all" he says a little solemnly.
"I know and he's right. "I'm sorry. I know I've been gone so long but I'm really glad I'm here with ya now"
"Yeah yeah me too you sap now cmon I parked at the very back of the lot, we can talk about your little situation more on the way to my house"
"Your house?"
"Yeah did you think I was gonna let my FAMOUS BIG BROTHER stay in a run down motel??"
"Nope" I say as I laugh for a second forgetting about how much I didn't wanna be in this stupid town.
