It's 8:30, we're in the great hall, and Ron is getting ready for his duel. Then Malfoy and his "backup" enter the hall. "Alright. Let's get this over with." Malfoy says lightly with a fake yawn.
Ron (after giving me a kiss on the cheek and telling me not to worry) steps up to Malfoy. "Let's do this." he says to Malfoy, hate filling his voice. They step away from each other, wands raised, and they begin. In a matter of seconds, spells are flying back and forth.
"I can't watch!" I say, burying my face into Olivia's shoulder. "Olivia, distract me. Talk to me......"
"Uh, ok..." she says. She turns me around so I can't see the fight and makes me look into her eyes. "Ask me a question." she instructs me.
"Um....." I say, wracking my brain for a question, any question. "Do you like anybody here at Hogwarts?" I ask meekly, not knowing what to say.
"Well," Olivia stammers, blushing a little. "ya, I-I guess....."
"WHO?!" I ask excitedly, forgetting the fight for a minute.
"Oh, I don't know...." she says quietly, and a bit sadly "I guess it would be nice if Harry noticed me a bit more......but all the girls obsess over him, since he's "the chosen one", he could have any girl he wants, and it would never be me......besides, I think he likes Ginny."
"Well he's an idiot." I say jokingly, "I'll talk to him." Olivia smiles. "You would?!? Thanks!" Just then, Harry walks in and comes over to Olivia and I. Olivia makes up some excuse to leave, blushing a bit as she does so, and walks away.
"What was that about?" Harry asks, clearly oblivious. "And what's with Ron and Malfoy fighting?"
"It's a long story." I tell him. I really want to talk to him about Olivia. "So," I say, trying to sound casual. "what do you think of Olivia?" As hard as I try to sound casual, it comes out really weird and awkward. Thank gosh Harry is a guy and doesn't understand girls!
"I don't know, she's cool I guess. We haven't really hung out since you left. She's really smart though, she's helped with my homework a few times."
"And what about Ginny?"
"Well, she's Ron's little sister. She's nice, funny, smart, and pretty brave....." he answers, kind of dreamily. He clearly likes her, poor Olivia. "Why do you ask?" Harry says.
"Oh, no reason...." I respond quickly. "And the reason Ron and Malfoy are fighting is because of me! Ron could die, and it's all my fault!" Yet again,'I start crying.
Harry makes me look into his eyes. They seem different, not their usual brilliant green.....strange. "Ron is not going to die, ok?" he reassures me, "And I know why you asked those questions now, the answer is I like Ginny, ok?" As he talks, his voice raises with anger and his eyes seem to go out of focus, and they defiantly aren't their normal green anymore.
"Harry, are you ok?" I ask.
"IM JUST PERFECT!" he spits.
"What the hell Harry?!? You're being such an ass!!!" I say, a few tears forming in my eyes. The last thing I need right now is Harry getting mad at me.
"You're not much better," he hisses, "I'm not the reason Ron could die!"
"Harry what's wrong with you?!?!?" I scream at him, a fresh set of tears now streaming down my face. I don't wait for him to answer, I just run over to where Olivia is standing. How am I going to tell her????
