Chapter 5: The lunar station

The doors slowly swung open. A jasper in cuffs and chains proceeded to walk down the middle of the room, with two armed guards on both sides. Eyes followed his movement, judging him greatly. Peri watched with curiosity as she stood next to wisteria in the front row.
The jasper looked over his shoulder to face the purple agate staring back at him. Peri watched the jasper frown as he turned back.
Then, two zircons emerged from their seats and stood upfront, next to the jasper. One was pink, and one was blue.

"Greetings everyone and  thank you for joining us today. The case will begin shortly." The kyanite announced.
Peri watched the two zircons prepare their themselves. they both had holo screens that provided their evidence needed for their case. The kyanite glanced at the pink prosecutor, choosing them to start off the trial.
" zircon 9ZP, you may begin." The kyanite said with a nod.
" Thank you judge." The pink lawyer fixed his tie.
"We all know that guards were made to protect and defend, made with such raw strength to stop any enemies the empire may face. Though, we also know how guards temperament are. It's no secret that quartz and jaspers have rough behavior."

From peri's perspective, she was able to catch a glare from the jasper as his gaze met the floor. She looked back at her owner, who seemed displeased with the situation. Peri then noticed that wisteria had been that way the entire time, which is understandable. Peri barely knows her. Who knows how this trial affects her.

"This is clearly exhibited the day of the attack. Take evidence A," The zircon pulled up a video of the solar station on his holo pad. The video showed the jasper and quartz at their posts from far way.
" if you watch carefully, you'll notice the two guards switch out for another pair, and as they walk away it shows that
A blue quartz pushes the jasper just before they leave our view."
The crowd listened in intently.
"Now that may not be enough to suggest any hostility between the two. Which is why I bring evidence B."
The zircon swipes on his holo screen, revealing files with both the jasper's and blue quartz's picture.
" I was able to pull any criminal charges these gems may have, and it states here they are both charged with at least one."
The zircon pointed to the jasper's file.
"This jasper has been charged with assault twice, and has received many warnings. Therefore, it is clear that this gem has a defective streak in his coding."
The jasper glared in the pink zircon's general direction, seeing the crowd's shocked and judgmental reactions.

"That is all your honor." The zircon stepped back, closing his holo pad. Chatter quietly grew from the seated gems.
The kyanite's pearl, azure, was keeping track of the trial on her holo pad. She had just finished typing the data when she turned to her kyanite, nodding to indicate that she was ready to carry on. The kyanite then turned to the blue zircon. 
"You may begin blue 9ZB."

"Thank you your elegance." The blue zircon summoned his holo screen.
" the assumption that all guards are brash and hot headed is a idiotic idea to spread within our community. It's common knowledge that each gem has various personality traits, thus cannot be used as valid evidence against our accused. Yes that video of the guards from earlier does explain the possible relationship the two may have had, but it is not enough evidence to simply assign punishment alone. Oh no gems, I think this situation has deeper history than you may think."

The seated gems listened in quietly. The kyanite raised a brow as she oversaw everyone. Azure pearl made sure to get every word in writing.

" for example, I had spoken with many quartz that guard the solar station, who are familiar with our accused and the victim.
Most guards claim that the blue quartz is almost always instigating heated arguments with our accused, and I quote from cherry red quartz," the blue lawyer pulled up a written statement from the witness.
