"Gideon?" An uneven breath left Sage's mouth as she looked at the tall guy. Gideon turned around with a huge smile plastered on his face. He was holding a box and a wine bottle in another.

"Happy birthday, Miele." Sage froze as she kept staring at Gideon. Gideon's brows frowned in confusion. "Sage, were you going to have company?"

Sage snapped out of her thoughts and shook her head. "No― I'm just surprised to see you here." Sage walked over to where Gideon was standing. "How did you know that I'm here?"

Gideon smirked at that. "Stalked your Instagram and saw the story you posted in the morning." Sage chuckled. "Can we go inside? I'm done standing here."

"Yeah... Yeah..." Sage pulled her key out and unlocked the door. "How long were you standing here?"

"Twenty minutes?" There was a thoughtful expression on Gideon's face. "I sent you messages and tried calling you but no response. So I decided to crash your night."

Sage smiled and placed her bag on the table while Gideon looked around the room. Nothing fancy. Sage got a standard room, but that might be expensive for a high schooler. Gideon placed the wine and the cupcakes he bought for Sage. He wanted to ask her why she wasn't celebrating her birthday with her friends or throwing a party. But he knew better. Sage would not tell him personal shit.

"Thank you, I really needed a drink." Gideon laughed.

"You do know right, you drink like a sailor?" Sage rolled her eyes. "Babe, at least I don't curse like a sailor."

"Yeah, right." Sage's gaze went to the cupcakes.

"Come on, let me lighten the birthday candle for you." Gideon pulled the candle box from his pocket. "How many do you like? One?"

Sage's brows frowned. "Put all the candles." Gideon glanced at Sage. "All the candles?"

"Yes, I love candles." Gideon smiled and nodded his head. "As you say, Miele."

Sage took a seat and watched Gideon as he arranged the candles on the cupcakes. Her mum bought her a birthday cake but she wasn't that happy, considering the fact that she wanted to spend her day alone with her mum. But she pushed it away, the fact that her mum bought her birthday cake matters the most.

"Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday to you..." Sage laughed but leaned down to make a wish before blowing out the candles. Gideon watched Sage with an emotion that he couldn't understand. He doesn't understand why he came to London and searched for a cake everywhere on a Saturday night, leaving the buzzing party and his friends.

"Thank you, Gideon." Sage took the cupcake to Gideon's lips. "First, you take a bite." Sage smiled and took a bite before Gideon had the bite. "That is yummy." Gideon chuckled, nodding his head in agreement. "They are."

Sage took her seat in the cushioned chair and Gideon imitated the same. Sage pulled her scrunchie out and tied her hair into a bun while keeping her eyes on Gideon. "Are you at the legal age to buy alcohol?"

Gideon rolled his eyes. "Dolci, I'm 19."

Sage's eyes widened in surprise. "You aren't eighteen?" Gideon laughed. Most of the students at Kings Edwards believed that he was eighteen, but what they don't know is he repeated a year. "Nope, I repeated a year."

"Why?"

"Because I was going to a school here when my parents shifted to Kings Edwards. My results weren't good in the entrance exam and they decided it would be better if I repeated the year."

"Sucks, that might be the reason why you always looked down at the boys in the section." Sage laughed, remembering the memory. "And fuck, you used to fight because of those Lego building blocks." Gideon's ears turned pink, he was violent and a cranky kid with an attitude. "That was in the past, now I'm changed."
