It had been two days since I was fired and Matt still hadn't texted me back. I called and called but it was voicemail every time. It was just another morning of Ney trying to get me to eat, and after him eventually giving as per usual, he started a conversation.
"So, I know losing this job has been pretty hard on you and I understand if you don't want it but... you could come and work at Camp Nou."
"Really?"
"Why not?"
"Thankyou Ney."
I took a spoon full of cereal and put it in my mouth, chewing then swallowing. I saw a smile light up on his face.
"Thankyou." He mumbled, seeming to have a lack of air in his lungs.
I finished what I could of the bowl, then I went up to my room. I took a hot shower, feeling the steaming water trickle down my body. I trailed a rag with soap across my body, the buttery liquid cleaning me. I stood under the water, absorbing the steam as I stayed.
I got out of the shower and dried off, lathering myself in lotion, the luscious cream cooling my hot skin. I laid down on my bed and tried calling Matt again.
To my surprise, he answered.
"What."
"Matt, I'm sorry and I hope you know I would never try to hurt you."
"No but, you would let him. Didn't bother to stop him."
"Matt..."
"What Jayla? If you just wanna get into his pants tell me, cause you know what? I'm tired of it."
"Matt I can't believe you, he broke me and you know that best."
"He broke you and you could go back to him so easy."
"Maybe if you cared more" I mumbled into the phone.
"Ohhh so I don't try?"
"I-"
"I don't care?"
"I-"
"You what Jayla? Don't call me for a while, when I wanna talk to you I will."
"Bye." I said before bursting to tears.
I cried into my pillow for another night in a row, I felt like shit.
Was it my fault?
