Boy problems and Jjajangmyeon

Sun Hee

The next day, I immediately told Ni-ki about how Jay was actually Park Jong Seong, our childhood best friend! And if turned out Ni-ki got to know about it before me at football practice.

I noticed Ni-ki was more open to talking to jay nowadays. It wasn't so bad hanging out with him.

It's been a week since Jay had been coming to school. We even introduced him to Ha-rin, and the four of us hang out a lot. Jay still joins us for afternoon study and he is pretty nice to me, not by words but through actions.

Him and Ni-ki have partnered up to tease me and annoy me all the time. Ahh they're too much to handle.

Tonight, Jay is treating the friends he made at school.

We are going to get busy, since we've got a test by the end of this week, so we planned to hang out before.

It's yet another Tuesday today. Ni-ki, Jay, Sunghoon and Jake are surrounded by literally all of the girls at school, and I am stuck with Ha-rin, ranting about her problems, as I stuff my face at lunch.

It seemed she liked this boy named Sunoo, but he didn't seem to pay attention to her.

"Oh well... at least I don't have boy problems." I didn't realise I said that out loud.

"Are you sure?" Ha-rin points at Jay, who was staring at me. "Ahh, him...? Turns out he's mine and Ni-ki's childhood friend. Maybe that's why he was staring at me at your party." I said, then turned to Jay and waved at him.

He immediately looked away, with his face turning into cherry blossoms. "Aigoo... look at him blush. I ship." Ha-rin said and I immediately elbowed her. "Jinjja (really)!" I said and clicked my tongue with extreme denial.

It is true he looks the same after all of these years. His smile, his eyes, ahh what am I thinking about!

Before I could gain some sense, Ni-ki joined our table. He suddenly flicked my forehead as I stared at him in surprise. "Stop dipping your chopsticks into the soup, pabo!" I heard him say and laugh. "Yah, jugule (do you want to die)?" I threatened, and all of us laughed it off.

By the end of lunch, Ni-ki offered to pick me up, and Ha-rin was still sulking about that boy.

Jeez...

8pm

Ni-ki and I reached the Jjajangmyeon place. The place I recommended to Jay, during our afternoon study sessions.

An hour or two passed by and the entire restaurant was filled with hustle and bustle. And somehow I was squeezed between Ni-ki and Jay. Jay kept putting meat on my plate and Ni-ki kept putting side dishes in my rice bowl.

Ni-ki and I didn't drink (because we're minors), but Jay, Heesung and other classmates did get a little drunk.

As Jay, Ni-ki and I, live in the same neighbourhood, we had to drop Jay off.

Ni-ki carried Jay, irritated with the fact that he had to deal with Jay sleep talking.

"Sun Hee? I like it when you..." I turned to Jay "...when you smile." He said and smiled to himself.

"He's just drunk, don't mind him." I just nodded at
Ni-ki's words as a swarm of butterflies unleashed in my stomach.

Oh no... Butterflies wouldn't satisfy the description of the feeling I felt inside my stomach when Jay said that. He likes when I smile?

I ridiculously blushed and smiled at what he just said. Stop yourself Sun Hee!

We soon reached home said goodbyes to each other.

Next day

"Yah! Pass me a pen, Ni-ki doesn't have an extra!" Jay whisper shouted. I passed him a pen, staring at him in disappointment.

That guy looked like a wreck of a person, and super hungover. I'm never gonna drink, if I'm going to look like this the other day.

"You have a graded assignment to be done by next week. You'll do it in groups of four. The names are listed on the pin board outside the classroom." The teacher said before the class finished.

I rushed out of the class, to look at who I was teamed up with.

"Sun Hee... Ha-rin... Sunoo, and Jay!" I said the names out loud. Well this is gonna be interesting.
