Separate Ways - Journey
We ran towards the front door and I made every kid escape before going out with Jonathan and Nancy. We walked towards the road.
The fireworks were still lighting up the sky, and down the road, I saw the trees moving.
« - Shit ! » I yelled
The Mind Flayer was quickly approaching, busting tree limbs like tooth picks on it's way. I rushed the kids back in the cabin and Nancy and I went to the shed.
Nancy then flicked the overhead light and visually scanned the shed. She then saw two shotguns and an axe.
She handed me one of the guns and handed Jonathan the axe. I pumped the slide action, it was empty. We took some munitions and went back inside the cabin.
While the kids were getting ready for the battle, barricading windows and doors, we filled our weapons. We then gathered in the center of the room, back-to-back.
It was quiet, save for the faint rumbling that was getting louder as it was approaching the cabin. The wall lamps started to shake with each impact, same with the dishes in the kitchen.
I looked at Will and he nodded slowly, feeling the Mind Flayer.
« - It's close. » Will whispered.
Dust fell from the ceiling with each approaching thud. A coffee mug fell from the wall rack, shattering as it hit the floor.
It then went silent.
« - Where'd it go ? » Max asked.
« - It's still there, i assure you. » I said arming my shotgun.
The lights flickered. But it was quiet. Too quiet.
Suddenly, a tentacle smashed through the wall making us gasp and scream. Wood splintered, sending shards everywhere.
Jonathan chopped at it with his axe, the tentacle then spewed everywhere.
Before he could hit again, it took a swipe at him and sent him crash into a wall. He dropped the axe and Nancy fired at it. The tentacle wobbled backwards.
But soon enough, Nancy's slide was empty. It lunged back towards her and i fired at it, but it didn't stop and El finally held it back. She stood in the middle of the room, holding it from her right hand. She slammed it into the floor and a piece snapped off.
« - Holy shit. » Max said seeing the tentacle recoil out.
But again, two tentacle lunged again from either side of El. She held them both back with her powers. I could feel she was getting weaker, so i stood by her side and started firing at each of the tentacles.
« - Y/n ! No ! » Lucas yelled.
And suddenly, I felt a raging pain on my right side. I winced, and fired again. Eleven finally pushed the tentacles away and I let go of the shotgun. I put my hand on my side, and saw blood pouring from it.
« - Holy shit, Y/n. » Jonathan said.
We had no time to realize that a new tentacle burst through the ceiling, grabbing El's left foot. In a single swoop, she fell to the floor and was dragged back then pulled up by it.
« - El ! » Mike screamed and grabbed her both hands.
All of the kids and Jonathan started pulling on El, trying to stop her from being taken away. She was screaming and sobbing, terrified and in pain. Nancy joined them too.
I stood up, wincing in pain and grabbed my shotgun. I removed my bloody hand from my side and armed my weapon.
« - Y/n shoot it ! » Lucas yelled.
The Mind Flayer sticked it's head through the hole in the ceiling. it snarled, razor sharp teeth dripping with slime.
I fired a few times, making it slowly weaken and Lucas tried to chop it with the axe.
I shot one last time, and Lucas finally succeeded to chop the tentacle. El fell to the floor, and the kids fell back too.
The flayer recoiled, leaving a piece of itself attached to El's leg.
« - El ! You okay ? » Mike asked worried
He saw the piece attached to her leg. Using two hands, he grabbed it and pulled. El screamed in pain and he ripped it from her. It flew across the room and left, leaving a trail of blood behind it.
I fell on the floor, feeling my blood pour from my side, and Max came to me. She ripped a piece of her shirt and pressed it against my wound. I winced and tried to catch my breath.
The Flayer was about to attack again, but El stood back up. She stretched out both arms, holding the creature at bay. And, with a forceful pull, she ripped the flayer's face apart.
She collapsed into the other's arms behind her. But there was no time to waste, we had to leave.
« - Shit, Y/n you're bleeding a lot. » Max said getting anxious.
« - It's okay. » I said trying to straighten up.
I held the piece of cloth even tighter on my wound, and Nancy came rushing to me. She wrapped it with a towel on my side, and we then headed out, running.
Adrenaline made the pain less hard than it should.
We hopped in the wheeler wagon, and I sat down next to a window. I held myself to the handle above my head and looked outside, at the fireworks.
« - Drive ! Drive ! » Mike screamed
Nancy started driving as the Mind Flayer wobbled behind, it's head split into a half dozen shards.

The Wheeler Wagon wildly fishtailed to a stop outside the Bradley's Big Buy. We threw a rock through the window, shattering it. We then all piled in.
They made El and me sat down in an aisle, and Nancy grabbed rubbing alcohol and gauze pads.
She turned towards me but I stopped her.
« - Help El first, I'm okay. » I lied.
« - No Y/n. » El said and I smiled as best as i could.
« - I promise it's okay. » I said
Nancy sighed and rolled up her pant leg, revealing a bloody and oozing wound.
« - Oh shit... Hey, what are you doing ?» Max asked Nancy.
« - I'm cleaning the wound. » She said with a gauze pad in hands.
« - No, first we need to stop the bleeding then clean, disinfect and bandage. » She said.
They started cleaning El's wound as I tried to stay awake, but my mind was drifting off to sleep. I could see stars on the ceiling. And then i saw his face, Billy. He was smiling.
But then, I felt someone shake me. I opened my eyes again. I saw El holding my hand.
« - Stay with me. » She said.
« - Shit, she looks super pale. » Mike said
« - Billy ... » Was the only thing i could say.
The others than came back to us and took care of our wounds. Max cleaned my wound and stop the bleeding, put a bandage around my waist and gave me some pills. I drunk a bit of water and ate something for it to give me strength again.
A sudden noise make me turn my head towards Mike's talkie. It crackled to life again. Dustin voice appeared.
« - I repeat ... This is a code red ! » He yelled.
