This chapter is important for a change because we learn about Stacie's dream and a very interesting thing. Continue 👀.
"Hey mom?" She looks up from her book and looks at me expecting my question.
"Remember I told you about that boy I once met at the park but never saw again?" She nods her head. "I was wondering if I had other guy friends?"
"Stac dear, you have always had more guy friends than girl friends but there is this particular boy that really mattered to you. I want to show you something." She motions me to follow her out of the living room. We head to my room and stand by the only wall that isn't littered with posters.
"Why are we standing here?"
She presses some areas on the wall and my secret room where I keep my most prized possessions is revealed. My jaw drops and I stare at her in disbelief. "How did you-"
"Sweetheart the only way Antonio could get you this room was if he had permission from me." I stare at her confused as she enters. I follow her in the room and look at her confused.
"Uh who's Antonio?" I ask her glancing at all the merch I was able to collect over the years.
"You don't remember Antonio because you got selective memory loss when you were 15. Perhaps it was due to the trauma you went through then." Come to think of it, there is alot about my past I don't remember. She sits on a stool in the corner and looks around the room with a nostalgic look on her face.
"Antonio Rodriguez is his name. His family used to stay in our street back when you were still four. One day you were playing in our yard and saw Antonio sitting alone on their porch and decided to invite him over to play with you. It was from that day that you guys were inseparable." I sit on the other stool and look at her to continue.
"Whatever you wanted, he provided with no complaints. You wanted The Ultimate Collection Michael Jackson vinyl box set and it was delivered 2 days later. He really just wanted to make sure that you smile. I think Beth was still a toddler who didn't understand what to do yet and when you saw her break a plate, you complained to Antonio that you wanted a secret place in your bedroom where you would store your things."
"So you started saving up pocket money to build a secret room. Only for Antonio to surprise you with this room on your birthday. Then the years went by and there wasn't a day where you weren't smiling although there were times when you would argue. "
"Then came the day when their family had to move and both of yall were heartbroken but then Antonio wrote something that you kept with you. It's in your Michael Jackson vinyl box by the I Just Can't Stop Loving You vinyl." I walk to the box and search for the paper. I see a folded up paper and take it out and go back to my seat.
She motions for me to open it and I start reading.
"This letter I write to you Mi Amor, I write it with a broken heart. I wish we didn't have to move but it seems like we don't have a choice. I really wish that you could come with us but it doesn't seem possible. I know that you will definitely wait until we leave to cry, you're brave like that.
But don't forget all the promises we made each other because I will return to fulfill each of them. From making you my queen legally to doing whatever you want for the rest of my life for I live for nothing but you.
You gave me the reason not to lose my humanity and to allow love in my heart. I love you Stac and only you and this is a promise that it isn't goodbye.
Yours sincerely
Antonio."I stare at the letter for a few moments with tears in my eyes. Why do I feel like there's a piece of me missing? I look at my mom only to see her wiping some tears and smiling at me.
