Jinx found Blair in Hades' office, expecting to see her engrossed in Rhea's writings. Instead, Blair was skillfully managing Hades' responsibilities—authorizing death orders and dispatching demons to carry them out. As Jinx observed her sister, she began to realize that perhaps Blair was truly meant for this role. If only the other girls would take their responsibilities as seriously, maybe the chaos in their world wouldn't feel so overwhelming.
Not that any of them desired these duties permanently, but they could certainly handle them better. Jinx phased back to Olympus with a heavy sigh. She made her way to Zeus' office and hesitantly pushed the door open. It was a shock to see the room cluttered from floor to ceiling with tasks and matters Zeus had avoided dealing with. Jinx felt a surge of emotion, almost on the verge of tears at the sight.
Jinx located a chair and settled into it, grabbing the first file within reach. As she opened it, she couldn't help but chuckle—it was a decade-old request from Gaia to speak with Luna, which Jinx promptly denied and archived. Finding her rhythm, she realized she was processing files at an incredible speed. While some older files posed challenges, she relied on her judgment as best as she could. However, one file caught her off guard.
It was a request from Darla to speak with Zeus about her soulmate, yet Zeus had never even acknowledged it. This neglect only exacerbated Blair's severe abandonment issues. Jinx approved the request and filed it away, determined to address the oversight.
Suddenly, someone cleared their throat, causing Jinx to snap her head up.
"Hey, ready to go?" Blair asked softly.
"Yeah, just finishing up this last one," Jinx replied.
"Why are you handling Zeus's old tasks?" Blair inquired.
"Well, I noticed you handling Hades' tasks and thought, why not give Zeus' work a shot," Jinx explained.
"I have to manage Hades' responsibilities; people still need to be taken to the Underworld. But you don't have to take on Zeus' workload," Blair pointed out.
"True, but if we all pitch in and handle what our parents can't right now, maybe when they return, everything will be more peaceful. We could even help them get back on track sooner. I mean, I've only been here for about two hours, and I've made progress with two of the massive piles," Jinx reasoned.
"I understand your point, but you still have roughly three hundred piles left. It's like Zeus decided to avoid anything resembling work," Blair remarked.
"Yes, but I can tackle it. And when Zeus is ready to work again, I'll help him stay on top of everything. We can all assist our parents in staying organized," Jinx proposed.
"That's a brilliant plan. Now, we just need to get the others on board. None of us truly desires their responsibilities, but we can certainly assist them in maintaining a harmonious balance in the world," Blair reflected thoughtfully.
"Exactly, we're not taking over for them, but we're lending our support to help them. It's our responsibility to uphold the balance," Jinx agreed.
"How about we discuss this with the girls after your return? We'll be spending the next two weeks with the Myzanc, and I want you to focus on finding the right dragon to help you master control. Additionally, I want you to learn from Mystar; there's so much we don't know about soul readers, and the archives offer little information," Blair suggested.
