Blair followed Lisa to the edge of the veil, a shimmering boundary between worlds that pulsed with an otherworldly energy. Jinx and Anna (Kylin) stood solemnly just outside the veil, their presence a silent testament to the gravity of the moment. Jinx's eyes, usually filled with mischief, now betrayed a flicker of shame as she nodded to Siren, the weight of her actions heavy upon her. Siren, a figure of authority with a hint of weariness in her gaze, handed Blair the letter with a firm yet gentle gesture before giving her a decisive shove through the veil. As Blair stumbled forward, the fabric of reality seemed to blur and shift around her, disorienting yet exhilarating all at once. Jinx and Anna moved swiftly, their forms almost ethereal as they moved inside the veil. Blair's fingers trembled slightly as she unfolded the letter, anticipation mingling with excitement in her chest. A soft smile graced her lips as she read the words, each line a balm to her soul. Meanwhile, Jinx watched with growing confusion, her brow furrowing as she struggled to decipher her sister's enigmatic reaction, a mixture of curiosity and concern swirling within her.
"Your not angry?" Jinx asked, her voice tinged with uncertainty as she glanced at Blair.
"Why would I be?" Blair replied calmly, stepping back into the veil, the energy of the boundary crackling softly around her.
"Anna is Kylin, and I didn't tell you the minute I found out," Jinx confessed, her words weighted with remorse.
"Jinx, you follow the fates' orders to a T. Now I know the fates are good at what they do, and their disguise spell is pretty good, but they cannot hide the link a mother shares with her child," Blair explained, her tone soft yet resolute. "I knew who she was the minute I met her. I was cold and distant, partly because I was hungry, and partly because I was scared."
"Scared of what?" Luna interjected, her curiosity evident in her voice.
"Scared that my daughter was going to be disappointed in who her biological mother is," Blair admitted, her gaze distant for a moment before returning to the present. "Now the only thing I need answered right now is how the hell are you a dragon, Kylin?"
"Nathaniel was a dragon. A gold dragon, who was abandoned at birth. He was adopted and was never around other dragons. So he was never in control of his dragon," Kylin explained, her voice steady as she recounted the tale. "When he met you, he was attracted to your power. He thought that you could tell him how to control the beast within him. When he realized that you couldn't help him, he lost every ounce of the control he did have."
"How do you know all of this?" Bayo asked, her brow furrowing in confusion.
"He told me when I found him. He told me everything, and I mean everything," Kylin replied, her voice steady despite the weight of her words. "He told me what he had done to my mother and how he convinced the courts that she was an unfit mother. It's why I killed him."
"You're the one who killed him?" Blair asked, a half smile playing on her lips as she regarded Kylin with a mix of surprise and admiration.
"He was disrespectful to my mother. Everything he did was a slap in the face to the woman who gave me an amazing life. As a royal dragon, I couldn't let him get away with it. So I challenged him and he accepted. He lost, I won, and justice was served," Kylin explained, her tone devoid of remorse.
"You fought and killed your father because he disrespected a woman you had yet to meet?" Jinx asked, a hint of amusement lacing her words as she struggled to conceal her laughter.
"Yes. He hurt her in more ways than one. I don't know how Mom let him get away with all the shit he did, but I wasn't going to let him," Kylin stated, her voice tinged with defensiveness.
"How did you find him? Didn't Blair get him sent to prison for killing his sister?" Lisa inquired, her curiosity piqued.
"Yes, she did," Kylin replied, a sense of pride evident in her demeanor. "That is how I found him. My adopted mother is a parole officer. She found out who he was and told me. She gave me his information. Just in case I wanted to meet the man I came from."
