A Small Discussion Between Friends

Keep in mind, this is one of my many first attempts at writing and completing a crossover fanfiction, so no burns, please. Constructive criticisms only.

I don't own Princess Principal, Moriarty the Patriot, the Sherlock Holmes original stories, or any other adaptations of Sherlock Holmes. I don't own any of its characters, or the image I used as the cover above. The only thing I own is the idea behind this crossover fanfiction.

As the car driven by Doctor John Watson reached the gates to the Queen's Mayfair Academy, the two female passengers left the car after it stopped in its tracks.

But the Japanese girl turned to say a few parting words to the good doctor.

"Thank you, Watson-sensei."

"You are most welcome, Chise-san. Be safe. The two of you."

"Thank you, Doctor." To Chise's surprise, Ange was the one to get the final word.

They both then watched the car return to the direction of Baker Street.

As the gates to the Academy were locked in the night, the two spies had no choice but to climb the exterior walls to enter, but Chise knew that such physical activities would risk aggravating her healing shoulder and leg.

In a gesture the Japanese girl hadn't seen before, the spy next to her held out her hand and offered her a lift with a little smile.

As Chise held onto Ange, who carried her in her arms, they both were taken through the air by the gravity-defying properties of the Cavorite ball.

Chise could see Ange looking at her warmly as they floated far above the ground. Suddenly, Chise's eyes widened as she saw a tear tracing down the spy's cheek.

Deep down, she knew, that what she saw back in the flat wasn't a deception on Ange's part. It was real.

"Are you alright, Ange?" Chise said, concerned.

"It's fine, Chise," Ange said softly as she shook her head, removing the tear. "Don't tell anyone about this, will you?"

"Why?"

"Just... don't tell anyone, Chise. Please."

"Crying is nothing to be ashamed of, Ange." Chise held onto Ange's hand. "I am certain that you have been carrying a weight in your heart for so long, staying strong for a long time. There is a time when you will..."

"It's not that." Ange looked away from the girl in her arms, shaking her head.

"You're still... human. That's good, Ange. I knew that you were not an extraterrestrial from Black Lizard Planet."

"How can you tell?"

"Beatrice taught me that they only exist in books—the War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells. Beatrice gave me the book once. I've read it."

Ange gave a little laugh at that. "They came from Mars. I'm from the Black Lizard Planet."

"It's purely fictional. I know that now."

"I'm being serious. Don't tell anyone about this, or I'll make you regret it."

"You would do well to remember that I'm a formidable opponent, Ange."

"Okay. Let's have a little spar tomorrow morning and we'll see, Chise."

The talk was less of a threat and more of a friendly banter, something the two of them noticed.

The report back to Dorothy in the clubroom was quick and uneventful.

They reported their findings after observing Professor James Moriarty and concluded that their findings were still inconclusive. The letter they tracked down was meant for a friend of his, not a fellow spy.
