Keep in mind, this is one of my many first attempts at writing and completing a crossover fanfiction, so no burns, please. Constructive criticisms only.
I don't own Princess Principal, Moriarty the Patriot, the Sherlock Holmes original stories, or any other adaptations of Sherlock Holmes. I don't own any of its characters, or the image I used as the cover above. The only thing I own is the idea behind this crossover fanfiction.
To say that Ange was in agonizing pain when she saw Charlotte bleeding was a severe understatement.
She activated her C-Ball and took flight, going after the speeding ambulance, not caring that the brewing storm had spawned a hard rainfall.
The rainwater masked her tears and the splashes masked her sobs, but the anti-gravitational properties of her most recognizable tool for espionage failed to stop her tears from falling to the ground.
Soon, the ambulance arrived at St. Bartholomew's Hospital. It had a square surrounded by four buildings, which served as the hospital's wings in the four cardinal directions. The square had a courtyard with a prominent fountain in the middle of a small garden.
The ambulance arrived at the emergency in one of the four blocks, and Ange could only watch as they brought Charlotte inside. Beatrice kept following her, clutching the stretcher she was lying on for dear life.
She knew Charlotte would be sent straight to surgery to remove the bullets. All Ange could do was wait and hope for the best.
But the wait was painful for Ange, with Charlotte's life hanging in the balance.
She flew towards the courtyard and landed in front of the fountain, which was still running, and lit up by lampposts around it.
At the sight of the four statues carrying the weight of the fountain behind them, she took a few steps forward.
Contemplating, she described the fountain before her with a single word.
Weight.
She felt the weight of the fountain the four angel statues were carrying perfectly echoed what she felt then, as the events of the last two days had taken a heavy toll on her.
Firstly, a stranger had known who she truly was and was initially willing to expose her for threatening the people he held most dear. She can only thank God that the man understood her and refrained from doing so.
And then, the one individual whom she lied and killed for was fighting for her life in surgery.
Ange began to think about whether the events happening for the past two days were punishments for everything she had done.
For the people she lied to. For the people she killed. All for Charlotte.
To Ange, the worst punishment had happened a few minutes ago.
The garden she found herself in and the hospital complex surrounding her reminded her of one terrible thing she did. One that stood up above the rest in her mind.
Eric and his little sister, Amy.
In a way, Eric was just like her. He would do anything for Amy, just like how she would do anything for Charlotte. He faked a defection to the Commonwealth at the Kingdom's behest. Lying for her. All for her.
But she killed him, in a secluded park, just like the one she was in. She knew she had to. She had to keep Charlotte's involvement with Commonwealth spies a secret.
Before that, however, she had him sign a life insurance policy, which covered his little sister's treatment for Cavorite poisoning.
She had many reasons to kill him. His knowledge of her secret was only one of them. In a way, it was mercy, and it helped Amy's recovery.
