AWA'ATLU WAS BEAUTIFUL IN THE DARK, much like their forest the nature around them glowed as the day grew darker and darker. The sun glowed a subtle green glow when Neteyam's feet pressed against the coarse sand. It was so familiar but different at the same time.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎Tsireya, like promised, came to fetch them when the sky turned orange with her bright smile that made Lo'ak almost trip and fall face first in the water— as his big brother, Neteyam made sure to tease him until his face turned a pastel purple from the embarrassment.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎The clan was reunited sitting in the sand they first stepped on when they first arrived, all spread in smaller groups with fire places lit up and already cooking.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎"Um," Tsireya's eyes darted around before pointing at an empty place "sit there, Kew is coming soon. You can eat this for now."

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎She placed a basket of fruit in front of them when they all sat down and lit up the fire place.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎"He won't be long." She promised and walked off, sitting down with the rest of her family.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎He would have been lying if the constant stares didn't annoy him, but he busied himself in sinking his teeth into a blue fruit while looking around.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎Kew'Itan appeared when the rest of the group started to eat their own food, much like his father hours earlier he almost jumped out of the water into the shore, dragging with him a cloth bag that he easily slung over his shoulder.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎He had grin on his lips and Neteyam could see rows of pearly white teeth glimmering under the fires that lit up all around him, the grin expanded into a full laugh when he stopped to talk to a group of boys huddled all together eating.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎Neteyam tried to think of similar moments he had back in their forest, but no one had ever looked at him like that. Like they were hanging on his every word, eyes shining if they managed to make him laugh. He looked away when a weird feeling settled in his stomach.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎"Sorry," he heard him speak, even if everyone around them was loud his voice was still clear and easy to hear, as if he was made to be heard, Neteyam very much felt like those boys "all of the usual fish don't come out during the night, I had to go hunt deeper."

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎When Kew dropped the bag it fell with a heavy 'thump' he couldn't help but notice the subtle tensing of his muscles before they disappeared under the teal green skin.
