Amity paced the room, her chest heaving with each breath she took. Her mind was racing, her thoughts spiraling out of control. She felt like she was suffocating, like the walls were closing in around her. Panic was taking over, and she didn't know how to stop it.
"Lilith?" she called out, her voice cracking. "I can't...Lilith...Momma! I can't!"
But Lilith was already by her side, coming to her aid without hesitation. She could see the fear in Amity's eyes, the way her whole body was trembling.
"It's okay, Amity," Lilith whispered, stepping closer to the girl. "Just take deep breaths, focus on your breathing."
But try as she might, Amity couldn't catch her breath. She was choking on air, her lungs burning as she struggled for air.
Lilith didn't hesitate. She scooped the girl up into her arms, holding her close and shushing her like a mother would.
"Shhh, it's okay, baby," she whispered, her voice soothing and calm. "Mommy's right here. You're safe. Just take slow, deep breaths."
Amity clung to Lilith, her body still shaking with fear. But gradually, as Lilith continued to whisper soothing words in her ear, she began to calm down. Her breathing slowed, and the panic that had been gripping her began to fade away.
In those moments, all that mattered was the love and support that Lilith was offering. And for Amity, as long as she had Lilith by her side, she knew that everything would be alright.
