Chapter Five

Jaiden's POV

I kissed Drew goodbye for getting in the car and driving towards home. There were some things that I missed, but my mother was one of them. I looked at the familiar streets that I was driving down and I remembered all of the things that have happened on these streets. My first kiss with my first boyfriend, before Drew. I smiled as I turned onto my street. I had to see my mother. She was the biggest part of me. She gave me inspiration to sing, and encouragement to follow my dreams. A tear rolls down my cheek as I pull into the driveway, and when I see my dad out on the porch I wipe it quickly away. I cut the engine and jump out of the car, racing to my dad. 

He puts his arms around me and I start to sob. I can't stop either. I melt into his arms, and I just let myself cry with my head against his chest. 

"She's going to be okay. You came at the right time. She's been asking for you." he whispered, petting my hair. 

I sniffle and wipe the tears off of my cheeks. She was my mother. She would always be there. I nod at my dad, as he looks at my puffy eyes. He pulls me into a tight embrace and then leads me into the house. 

"Is she here?" my mother's voice sounds weak and it croaks. 

I race to her, pulling her in my arms. I start to cry harder. She was so weak, so light in my arms. I was scared I would crush her. She had always been my rock and now it was my turn to be that for her.  

Drew's POV

Ever since she left I have been thinking about her nonstop. She has to be with her mom and I get it but I want her to be here. With me. I text her real quick, just to make sure she is alright. 

Hey. Can I come down to see you sometime? From: Drew

Come right now. I need you right now. I need you to help me get through this. From: Jaiden 

I pack a quick suitcase and tell the guys that I will be back in a couple of days and start the drive to where Jaiden is. 

Jaiden's POV

I sit on the couch with my mother, until I hear a car pull up to the front of the house. I raced to the front door and flung it open and saw Drew leaning against his beat up car. I rushed out to hug him, just needing to feel some sense of security right now.

"How's your mom?" he asked. 

"Terrible. She can barely talk or stay up for more than ten minutes. It's scary how weak she is, and I just want to be here for her. They are admitting her into the hospital tomorrow. Apparently, it's gotten worse and they need to put her on a breathing device since she can't breathe on her own." I felt cold tears run down my hot cheeks, adn he wiped them with his thumbs, making me forget about any problems I had. 

I looked back towards my house, seeing my dad stanidng on the porch with his arms crossed. 

"You might as well come meet my dad." I lace my fingers with Drew's and walk up the porch steps with him walking beside me. 

"Dad, this is Drew Chadwick. I met him while doing the X Factor. Drew, this is my dad." 

"Hello." Drew outstecthed his hand to my dad, and my dad shook it firmly, a smile on his lips. 

"So, this is the reason my daughter has been so happy where she's been staying. Becuase of you. Well, thank you for making her as happy as I hoped she'd be one day." he smiled and he and Drew went inside. 

I trailed behind them and looked at my mother fast asleep on the couch. She might not make it, and that scared me. She was was everything to me and at the thought of losing her, I broke down. I fell to my knees and started crying into my hands. feeling the tears roll down my cheeks and I couldn't stop them. The sobs wracked my whole body and my shoulders caved in until my elbows were poking my ribs. I couldn't breathe and all of the walls were caving in on me. My mom was everything I had, she was my connection to everything that I had ever known. She was my whole reality and now it was dying. It was going away and I couldn't stop it.
