Drew’s POV- A month later

Wes, Keaton, and I are at X Factor auditions, and while we are rehearsing for our audition I see her, in skinny jeans and a Coldplay shirt. Wes and Keaton see her too, and they keep singing as I walk towards her. I can’t believe she is here. I start to pick up speed as I get closer to her.

“Jaiden!” I call out to her, and her brunette hair whips around as she turns her head.

She drops her purse on the grass, and runs towards me. She wraps her arms around me and she starts laughing. We haven’t talked in almost a month, since I found out about her boyfriend. I hug her tightly, and I never want to let her go.

“How are you, Drew?” she says as she sits down on the grass.

I sit across from her, and try to take her all in, “I’m good. I am really sorry we haven’t talked in awhile. Me and Wes, and Keaton have just been getting ready for auditions,” I laugh uneasily as guilt flows through me.

“It’s cool. A lot has changed for me, too. Cameron and I broke up and it’s just been really busy at the Youth Outreach center, especially since more people are finding out about it and are asking me for tutoring help.”

“Well, it sounds like you have been pretty busy.”

“Kinda. Now that I don’t have to see Cameron like, everyday. It makes it easier. I can actually get more done.”

She broke up with him. Wow. But why is she here?

“What are you doing here? Auditioning for X Factor?”

“Well, I sing in our church choir and some people have told me I should try to audition somewhere and do something other than tutoring. So, here I am. Plus, I kinda wanted to see you. I didn’t know we wouldn’t be talking for a long time. And I really started missing you and hearing your voice,” she blushed and laughed a little uneasily as she twirled a bit of hair around her finger.

I smile at her and she looks down at the grass.

“I missed you too, Jaiden. There was not one day that I didn’t think about you,” she looks up at me, and I nod, “I am serious. I missed you alot. I wanted to text you, but I didn’t want your boyfriend to get all weird about it, so I didn’t.” Now, it was my turn to look down at the ground.

She hugs me, and I feel warmth start to course through my veins again.

“I should go practice, but it was good to see you, Drew. Really good.”

“Let me know if you make it okay?”

“I will,” she stands up, and I do too, “You do the same though, okay?”

“Okay,” I pull her into my arms again and when we separate, I hunger to touch her again.

Jaiden’s POV

I go back to rejoin the group of girls that are going to be auditioning too. I sit down on the ground, and watch Drew rejoin the guys, and they all start rehearsing their song. I take out my earbuds and play my audition song. I take a deep breath and start to sing the lyrics that are flowing so freely through my mouth. I close my eyes and focus on what the judges will be looking for which is good singing and a song that holds emotion and conviction. And I know I have a song that will capture my audience.

Drew’s POV

My stomach slowly ties in knots, not from nerves, but from seeing Jaiden here. I know that I will have to compete against her and I don’t want to do that to her. I just can’t. I won’t risk it. I try to rehearse with the guys, but can’t stop looking at Jaiden who is oblivious to the world, lipsyncing the lyrics to her audition song..
