"The party's tonight at 9. What are you
gonna wear? Don't wear a skirt, that's
what I'm going to wear."I was on the elevator, which had stopped at another floor. A teenage girl spoke loudly into her phone about a party as she got on.
I had always had the worst luck, but maybe this was a sign that everything was finally working in my favor. The doors shut and she rattled on about the party. From the details I picked up, it was a "Kook" party.
For the life of me I couldn't remember which one a Kook was. Did Kooks live on the Cut or Figure 8? I figured maybe it was the Kooks who live on Figure 8 since the teenage girl definitely looked rich.
The elevator came to a stop on the ground floor and we got out. I made my way to the Camero. I hadn't planned on going shopping. I had planned on going out to look around for a dealer. But since the whole party thing just fell into my lap, why not go find a Kook worthy outfit. I mean if I could find a dealer anywhere on Figure 8, it would definitely be at a party.
I let the top of the Camero down and sped off towards the shops downtown. There, I browsed around a few shops and tried things on.
I had fallen in love with a strappy red dress. It clung to every single curve of my body perfectly. Examining myself closer in the mirror, I noticed how much my features have already changed. I had been here all of 2 weeks and the dark brown of my hair already had a light kiss from the sun.
My curls were brought back to life thanks to the salty ocean air and water. And not to mention my freckles that lined my nose and under my eyes had gotten darker. I even looked more relaxed. My posture didn't seem so tense anymore.
I took off the red dress, hanging it back on the hanger. I was definitely buying it, but I wasn't going to wear it to the party tonight. I needed to blend in a little more than what the red dress offered me.
After trying a couple more dresses, I landed on a sage green colored dress. It matched my eye color almost exactly. There was outlines of tiny black flowers all over it. It was fitting and outlined my curves, but in a more modest way than the red dress. It was perfect for the party. It wouldn't stand out to where I would easily be noticed.
I really ended up eating those words though.
